I don't find the Winner's Film's to be quite as compelling as the competition rounds but it is very interesting to see the artists approach to their commissioned work through the various stages.
Added to that the viewer gets to know the artist better as well as his family, friends and also the sitter.
The result to my untrained eye is a truly wonderful piece of art and a really good likeness. But most importantly we get to see a commissioned work that has required a great deal of thought and preparation to produce. A portrait that will be displayed for the public, in this case at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff.
