"Losing Streak" is a show that illustrates that Anderson wasn't a particularly likable character on "The Paper Chase". He's nasty and grouchy through most of the episode--and this doesn't improve when his friends try to help--it only gets worse!
Anderson is pretty cocky when the episode begins. He sees a nice looking 3rd year law student and immediately talks as if he'll be sure to win her over with his great looks and charm. However, when he goes to her residence hall to see her, he gets diverted into a poker game--and loses his shirt. In fact, he's gambled with money that he doesn't have!! Now, he owes the game $800 and doesn't have a prayer of paying them back--especially because these players are pretty cut-throat. To make it worse, he manages to embarrass himself in front of Kingsfield--who punishes this with some whoppingly huge assignments.

Think about it, just one show previously, the study group had one of its members crash and burn--and was removed from the series. Now, just one show later, Anderson (Robert Ginty) appears in the same predicament! Had they timed it later in the series, it would have made more sense. In addition, the gambling that Anderson is involved in is a MAJOR topic of the show--yet you never heard a hint of it up until this episode! They should have set the show up better. Plus, Anderson was so hateful during the show--too hateful. It makes you wonder why anyone would help him or care.
