I am Terry
tbanks44707 November 2014
I am Terry from the documentary. I was trying to find the award Ray won for this. Idk if anyone is still alive other than myself so many years later. This documentary was filmed, the first one with Casey and Iain in 85 I think and then the 2nd one was I think 88 if I recall correctly. The guys turned most of the tricks to make sure the girls didn't have to. We did drugs experimenting and to forget what we had to do to survive. You have no idea how this effects a person through out life. For years on Iains anniversary of his death,it would be so hard. It's gotten easier to handle. It is a good documentary if you really want to know what it is like for kids out there. We were lucky. We had the LGBT community and we banded together so pimps didn't bother us. Hope this sheds some understanding. For the other person who left a review. I guess I am glad you liked it but we did the documentary because we didn't want other kids to come and do what we were having to live. Thank you for your nice review. I would like myself to get a copy of both documentaries. But have no idea how to go about it now.

One of the best documentaries ever

It's been about 13 years since I've seen this documentary. I'd have to say that I'm pained that I didn't record it when it was on PBS. It follows children living on the streets in California, the bay area I believe. These children are selling their bodies for money to survive, buy drugs, or whatever their addiction may be. The show is raw which makes it more addicting as you watch it. The kids are a real representation of what is like growing up in an unforgiving society. With too much to bare from his past, the main character, Iain Brown, committed suicide. I would love to get my hands on a copy of this movie. It would be nice to see an update also.

For Terry if you see this

There's an upload of the original documentary on YouTube. If you enter the title it can come up. What you did to make sure the girls be protected was so brave, along with letting the cameras show your lives and to tell others about what it was like in mid 80s San Francisco. I also know there was someone who was trying to make a movie about Iain's life, but the website was taken down. Iain's hometown was near mine and often I've wondered if Iain could've accomplished if he had lived. I wish Iain's neighbor could've finished the book they started and I hope the tapes still exist, perhaps someone else could write the story? I hope you are well.
