Not sure where this is going...

Solid acting and cinematography, but I'm still not sure what is the point of the show. This episode raised more questions than answers.

Too heavy handed to me

Warning: Spoilers
Weirdly the first review claims it's subtle. Leland Townsend as a character is like a hammer. David Acosta is doubting himself 100% on the faith, but then is super strong on the interpersonal. My favorite character is Ben Shakir played very finely by Aasif Mandvi, yes he tries a bit hard and repetitive to debunk the ghost angle, but most believable still. As for Kristen Bouchard, why in the world does she need to have 4 children with an absent husband? What point are they trying to make? And if she is a none believer and skeptical, then George should be maybe reappearing, but not all the time in every episode. Not sure I'll be sticking with this one.

It was pretty good.
Sleepin_Dragon11 January 2021
This week's case, a young woman wakes from the operating table, only three hours ago, she had died. A miracle, or a medical procedure overlooked?

I was blown away by the first episode, the test always comes if a great first episode is followed up by an equally great second.

I did enjoy it, it was an interesting story, with some good characters, and interesting development, I didn't totally appreciate the conclusion, my other half used to be Nurse, and was fuming with the revelation.

It wasn't so sharp as the first part, but it was still good, I love the whole night terrors scenario.

I love how the show has these wonderfully long introduction scenes before the names appear, that's different.

The polarising reviews baffle me, this was solid. 7/10.

Evil has a face
notanaxkiller-107-2879114 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode, and probably the series, they have given the face of Evil to Michael Emerson...at least on an earthly plane. He will be the physical manifestation of a spiritual entity. He can combat Katja Herbers, and the others in the world we know. I like the way that Evil is CREEPING into their minds through their jobs, the media...through everyday lives. So subtly that you don't notice it until it says "Here I am!" And by then it has a grip on you. It instills panic, and fear. Fear of the known, as well as the unknown. I like the way this is going, and can't wait for next week. Pleasant dreams!

Mixed Feelings - Nice Characters and concept, but some WTF moments
thiagocastrodias30 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I started watching this show recently, and must confess to have mixed feelings about it.

The characters are likeable, and there are a few enjoyable moments, while the concept itself is interesting. But, there are some "wtf" moments. Example: I don't think they have cameras in a morgue, placed exactly where people recognize their loved ones. Also, an autopsy performed in someone fully clothed? That doesn't make any sense! It is such a nonsense scene that I was forced to make my first comment ever on this site to talk about it.

The worst part is: that could have been a great scene. I don't know why the creators chose to do it that way.

If I had watched this series when it was released, back in 2019, I would advise creators to do a more detailed field research before writing the episodes. Want to shoot an autopsy scene? Get a coroner to review your scene, so you don't lose credibility. I know it sounds ironic to talk about credibility in a series about supernatural, but I guess it's easier to suspend your disbelief when you are facing the unknown than when dealing with earthly things.

Excellent
collin_nuke7 October 2019
Don't trust the negative dull reviews... this show is a FUN SCARY ride! The characters are all great and the fear that this show instills at the perfect times is that type of fear that gets under your skin and has you anxiously waiting for what's to come. That demon appearing gets me so much and I'm such a horror lover but there is something about this show that I'm loving sooo much and it actually creeps me out. I am so here for EVIL and will be sticking around as long as it's on!

Where Are You God???
wandernn1-81-6832743 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Acosta, starts off here obviously having some sort of personal crisis. He's hearing Townsend in his head. And move on to Acosta, Ben and Kirsten watching some medical vid. CArdiac Arrest during a soccer game. Three hours after 'death', she wakes up! 177 MINUTES LATER!!!!

Kirsten manages to get surveillance footage of the CPR revival of the girl. In 3 frames there is some sort of apparition??? Gotta have that footage checked out !!!

Kirsten's daughter screams during her sleep. She tells Kirsten about a man she saw in her dream. A man who totally fits the description of George the demon that Kirsten 'dreamed' about in Ep.1 Go figure!!!

+1 Star for This, opening sequence, which has to be one of the longest openings EVER

Haha, Leland Townsend, becomes the new forensic scientist to replace Kirsten with the DA. So it seems that she and Leland will be working against each other more often. So that should be good.

I like how they threw in racial prejudice as to why the girl was pronounced dead when she was.

Ruh Roh, does ACOSTA have some sort of drug problem? At the end of this one he seems to be seeking GOD's presence in a different way than just prayer.

Good episode.
LegendaryFang5627 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A few questions have arisen for me. Is Leland a demon? If the supernatural ends up being a real factor and not speculation, I can see him being one. How did he know about the miracle they were investigating? He's either been keeping taps on them, indirectly or directly, or got that information from the church, somehow. And that's the only theories I can come up with other than him being a demon and finding out through some supernatural mojo.

Is George, really, just a product of the show/movie he was "in"? I feel like the whole point of that was to misdirect the audience into thinking that's all it was only to eventually reveal that he is, in fact, real. And happened at the end with David? What did he buy from the guy at the club? Was what he saw induced by whatever it was that he put in his drink? Then there's the footage from the hospital's security camera, and there wasn't an explanation for that. And David's priest friend dismissed it very quickly. That was a little fishy.

Yes, they are insulting your intelligence
doug-godsoe4 October 2020
What a bunch of stupid this episode turned into.

Lemme see: dead 17 year old girl at autopsy. First thing you do is cut off her face... while she's still fully dressed in her soccer outfit. Did they even try to revive her before the autopsy?

Digital cameras do not leave ghost images from a previously used memory card. The technology doesn't work like old timey glass photography plates.

A PSYCHOLOGIST is not a trained medical expert, so why is she giving her opinions on medical practices? Psychologists don't prescribe medications; they are only licensed to charge money for pretending to care about your life problems. Do the writers not know the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?

It's just really lazy writing that they are hoping the audience is too stupid to notice. The writers are the real demons.

What are we doing?
LightningB2 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
So I decided to give this show a shot hoping it was a quirky, supernatural investigators type show. Wasn't sure what it was trying to be (ghost\supernatural, demonic\spiritual, fake\con artist etc.) after the 1st show. They did nothing to dispel that confusion after episode 2. Why?

Well our good guys are watching 2 pieces of footage from security at the hospital side by side deciding why they see something fly across the monitor on one of them that looks like a fairy. They study and study and the music\tension builds and we finally find out it's..........racism? What the frickin ginormous turd was that?! I then assumed there would be some closure with the remaining time to the actual case of the episode but that turned out to be it. All this supernatural vibe growing and we get a social issue pushed? To say it was out of nowhere and out of place is a mild understatement. I'm still watching it but here's hoping the actual premise of the show becomes more of the focus.

WHAT?! Did you pull a race card outta thin air?
ejsimpson100417 October 2020
This episode was going quite well, intriguing and deep... but then you want to pull a race card out of thin air, and insult first responders while you're at it? Should remove this episode due to blatant defamation of a group of people dedicated to saving lives, no matter whose it is.

I'll try and keep watching more episodes, but put that card away. Didn't fit at all with the story, being sudden, contrived, and offsetting.

Wow!! Absolurely refuse to watch anymore episodes!!!
kelleyhenson6 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was an absolute insult to our First Responders!!! Hospital administrations may have their own agenda about whose lives matter more but First Responders don't!!! Will never deign to look at this show again and will tell people, far and wide, how much this show sucks. BTW, not a First Responder, doctor, nurse, or otherwise in the medical profession. That is a role for heroes.

Turning it off !
Mr_MickyKnox7 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I thought I'd give this show a try as it looked pretty good. But pulling the race card out already ? Why ? Insulting medical staff and accusing them of racism ? If this is only episode 2, I won't be watching anymore of this nonsense !

Get woke go broke !

Rude and woke.
JaneBingley26 July 2021
Bless their tiny, cold hearts, they just cant help themselves.

It had to go woke at the end there, spouting vile lies towards first responders.

I love this show. Just wish they hadn't given her a live husband. And four kids, whats the point? I have four children myself, so nothing against the number per se. There is just no point having that many in these kind of series.

Everyone in this are likeable, my favourite is Ben. Like his sister too. Kristin is nice, and David is hot.

Leland character is ridiculous. Like the glamorous gran would ever been seen with such a revolting man.

Glad I didn't waste too much time.
therealmrp2 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Glad that they got to the silliness within the first few episodes so that I would not get invested into it too much. Unfortunately the writers did not give themselves enough time to establish some quality characters and story arcs before they got right into the ham-handed social justice work. It was bad enough to off-handedly explain away why a forensic psychologist with questionable ties to a serial killer can still be employed by the DA, the magical race card was the icing on the cake.

Seriously, the show, at this point, was not good enough to alienate and insult the viewers in such a direct way.
