A real dog lover
gabyayala-805778 February 2021
I really loved it. The way Matt treats dogs with absolute respect and empathy is refreshing. This is all about what us as owners can do to help our dogs learn proper socialization behaviors.

Season 3 please

This is such an interesting show to me. I am dying for more seasons!!! I actually liked the 1st season a little more than the 2nd season. I feel like season 1 is more real showing the aggression of some of these dogs.

OH.. MY....GAHD! Cringe!
superforcemiami10 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
OH. MY. GOD! I could not (and don't need to) watch passed the 2nd ep with the poor dog named Lou. WTF! > What they did to that dog just to get a collar on, and the NONSENSE mumbling that the show's trainer Matt was saying while he was traumatizing this dog further was sending chills down my spine. HOW IS THIS A SHOW?

This guy talks to the dogs like they are people during very critical and important moments that should be left quiet or without such lengthy , stupid human conversation. They got 4 people, including 2 crew members that clearly looked like they did not want to do what the "trainer" suggested, to throw a towel over the dog's head like they were sequestering him, with noisy talking and ALL THE WHILE the dog already had 2 leads choking him, because "that's how you do it" the "trainer" said. NO! That is NOT how you do that! Especially not in the dog's living room after 3 seconds of meeting him and an entire production crew with equipment and new invasive sounds and bodies in the dog's safe haven!

I have watched plenty of Dog Whisperer with dogs like Lou and worse, with the same issue and just patience and calmness, building trust, and leading and guiding the dog to put on a collar that was afraid of it. Then I watch this show and I have NEVER seen anything so stupidly and carelessly done. That poor dog- THOSE poor dogs. This guy thinks he's calming dogs down by the way he's speaking to them, and it really just feels like he's talking to everybody watching him do these brute things, and also talking to himself to justify and convince himself that the "technique" is how it should be done. It's like he's in denial. UNBELIEVABLE. So upsetting. I can't believe this guy has a show. It goes to show how desperate networks are, after the success of the Dog Whisperer, to cash in on the dog owning and training market. Oooof. This is cringy and I would NEVER EVER let my dog, or anyone's dog, near that guy. Those poor dogs. How is this guy a trainer? Sorry, but i don't care about your sob story about the drugs junkie background and who turned his life around bs-- this guy just doesn't get it.

I do believe he means well and cares for dogs, but he should be working with them in a different way- NOT "TRAINING" THEM.

silly psycho babble nonsense for dogs
howboutthisone_huh18 July 2021
First off, the premise that "there are no bad dogs" is just ignorant, and it's clearly targeted to the less critically minded among us who have to attribute human emotions and feelings to animals. People who believe in stuff like dogs are our children and dogs love us unconditionally, and bad dogs are just dogs that grew up deprived are living a fantasy life. If you're one of those, don't let me stop you from your silly projections but you might as well be dosing for all that your delusions are doing for you. What's a bad dog anyway? Is that aggressive junkyard dog a 'bad' dog? Probably not to it's owner but I wouldn't want it around my kids no matter how much rehab it got. And on that segue, the part where the 'dog expert' related his own personal rehab story to dogs is where I turned left. That and the many instances where they mishandle the dogs and babble on with terms that relate to humans not dogs, as if they actually know what they're doing. I'll wager a lot of money that if these are real stories, and they really made an attempt to change the dogs, they didn't help one single dog on this show. Where's the testimonials and affidavits from people with dogs that they've helped. Where's his credentials? Calling yourself an animal behaviorist, or dog therapist, or guru or whatever doesn't make it so. All I see is a huckster who can talk game to the feeble minded. And I object to the buddhist reference because choking dogs and putting them in stressful situations is not the way, grasshopper. Real experts of dogs, who know breeds and dog behavior based on science and experience and not 'good feelings' will actually point out that these people are not only not helping the dogs on the show but there are several instances where they're actually abusing the animals, physically and emotionally. If that's how they treat dogs at his high end dog spa, somebody please call the spca.

Clearly not a real trainer
levimacmurray29 July 2021
This guy has ZERO knowledge on how to train dogs and it's evident from minute one. No knowledge on dog body language, no knowledge on proper socialization, no knowledge on tool usage. Continually pushing dogs way over threshold and using other clearly unstable dogs to "socialize" his clients. He is putting dogs and people into dangerous situations, a dog even was bit by another while under his care. I'm waiting for a dog to get mauled in every episode. Not a good watch for knowledgeable people and potentially dangerous if it gives the unknowledgeable ideas.
