Yet Another Dud in Season 3
kgraovac25 December 2023
Lucy wants two days off work so she and the kids can enjoy a long weekend in Tijuana. Her plan includes convincing Harry his eyesight is failing and that he needs glasses.

If you thought the above summary sounded a little "off", make no mistake - this clunky episode has Lucy and the kids going to a ridiculous amount of trouble instead of just asking Harry outright if Lucy can go. Of course, he will refuse her, but it's as though the writers had one half-baked idea about Harry and just used the old tried-and-true "Lucy wants a day off" plot to make a complete episode.

Kim and Craig are playing "Bullfighter" in the opening scene - something you'd expect 10-12 year olds to be doing.

Frequent LUCY player Jack Collins plays the optometrist. Just exactly what kind of ethics does he have if he is so willing to go along with the stupid gag of posing as a sign painter to make Harry think he needs glasses? Did the prop department not realize eye charts don't have all the letters the same size?

The living room scene is no better, although I admit the part using twins to make it seem like poor Harry was seeing double was inspired. The bit with the invisible dog though? No thank you!

Another dud in Season 3. I had seen this back in 2006 when Sun-TV was showing reruns and had no recall of this one until I rewatched it today. 4/10.
