Time to put on your tinfoil hat, because we’re about to take a deep dive into some wild theorizing and speculation. If you’ve ever heard the name Doomcock, then you’ll know the YouTuber has an intensely burning dislike of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, and has made some wild claims in the past about Lucasfilm planning to retcon Episodes VII, Xiii and IX to wipe them from canon entirely.
Remember, this is the same person who said Robert Pattinson’s positive Covid-19 test that put him out of commission on The Batman for two weeks was an elaborately constructed ruse to cover up the fact he’d returned from the lengthy break in filming out of shape, while Doomcock also has a firm belief that George Lucas taking an active role in Star Wars again would fix the damage done by Kathleen Kennedy and her army of...

For gamers who’ve already died so many times in the decrepit world of Boletaria that their grandchildren will come out of the womb cursing those giant manta rays that fly around the Shrine of Storms and hit you with bolts of glass lightning whenever you turn your back, playing the shot-for-shot PlayStation 5 remake of “Demon’s Souls” is nothing less than a splendid, relentlessly sadomasochistic bout of déjà vu that lasts for more than 40 hours at a time. Welcome to a walking, slashing, falling tour through a once-faded memory palace that’s been renovated to look so beautiful you might forget it was always intended to be your tomb.
Of course, anyone who’s braved the original game before should know better than to lower their guard and drink in the scenery for even a millisecond. Pause to marvel at the degree of detail on a corpse’s feet in the Valley of Defilement,...

In season one of Xiii, Samuel Amos (Greg Bryk) was President Carrington's National Security Advisor. He and the spy with no name were usually at odds with one another, and occasionally they were at each other's throats. Amos' background was in the military where he spent his time behind the lines, planning strategies and developing innovative tactics. Even though he's all about rules and order, he wasn't afraid to take the law into his own hands and do some dirty work when he thought it was required. Additionally, in the first season we saw that Amos was a family man with a wife and a daughter, and he is extremely protective of his family.

Cinebook are a comics publisher that specialise in European fare. I’ve been lucky enough to receive a handful of their latest titles for review. The selection seems to cover pretty much every genre of boy’s own-style adventure you could think of, from space opera to World War II tales, via pirates and spies, stopping off at Viking and cowboys. Without further ado, let’s dive in.
I began with Sylvain Runberg and Serge Pellé’s Orbital 1. Scars. This is a sci-fi adventure, set in a future where humankind has recently been inducted into a pan-galactic Un-type organisation. Human Caleb and Mezoke of the Sandjarr race are paired together as part of the organisation’s spec-ops-cum-ambassadorial-peace-keeper branch (essentially like the Jedi in the Star Wars prequels), which is contentious due to the two species’ previous conflict. Pellé’s grimy and detailed artwork suggests a fully realised world and Runberg...

Hopefully you’ve been watching this really fun, entertaining supernatural show. If not, now’s the time to get going on that. Lost Girl brings us new supernatural creatures nearly every week as well as longer story arcs, some nice fight scenes, great cast chemistry, and lots of sex between pretty people. What’s not to like?
The series is produced in Canada and airs on Showcase there; Showcase and Syfy both announced the new season pickup yesterday. Unfortunately, while Canada is getting the next season in late 2013, we in the U.S. have to wait until 2014. Hopefully that isn’t set in stone…

Kris Holden-Ried and Anna Silk star in Lost Girl.
The Canadian channel Showcase has ordered a fourth season of its supernatural series Lost Girl. The show has consistently been Showcase’s number one scripted series and is an international hit.
“Lost Girl remains an anchor series for Showcase, and with its sharp writing and palpable cast chemistry, it has amassed a fan following second-to-none,” said Barbara Williams, Senior Vice President, Content, Shaw Media. “We are delighted to bring fans another season of the series and can’t wait to see where the creative team takes the story next.”
Currently halfway through its third season on Showcase, Lost Girl is centered on sexy succubus Bo (Anna Silk). Bo is a strong-willed and independent member of a community of creatures of legend and folklore called Fae that exists in our modern world. Indiewire's own Eric Kohn caught up with Roger Avary at the Locarno Film Festival for the Oscar-winning screenwriter and director's first interview since he was jailed for eight months for vehicular manslaughter. While talking to the "Pulp Fiction" writer, Kohn asked him to share some details about his current gig writing and executive producing "Xiii," a Franco-Canadian action series starring Stuart Townsend as an amnesiac secret agent, based on a Belgian comic book series by Jean Van Hamme and William Vance and currently airing in the Us on Reelz. I was asked by Ken Alpluz and Europa Corp, the TV division of the Luc Besson company, if I could take this series based on a French comic book in a somewhat different direction. One of my very favorite television shows growing up was "The Prisoner." "Xiii" is a spy show. I think the comic book is a little too similar to "The Bourne Identity.

Canadian TV series "Lost Girl", which also airs on Syfy here in the States, has lined up a pretty impressive guest star for its upcoming Season 3: none other than ass-kicker supreme Linda Hamilton.
TVLine reports that Hamilton (The Terminator, "Beauty and the Beast") will guest star in Season 3's tenth episode as Acacia, “a tough, sexy, and ruthless assassin who has enjoyed a storied and deadly career.”
Season 2 of "Lost Girl" is currently finishing out its run on Syfy by moving to Friday nights at 10:00 Pm, and Season 3 will air on both Syfy and Showcase in 2013 (Syfy says January while Showcase just says winter).
Synopsis:
Anna Silk (Being Erica) stars as seductress Bo, a Succubus (a powerful female entity in folklore) who feeds off sexual energy. Raised by human parents, Bo had no reason to believe she was anything other than the girl next door – until she “drained” her first boyfriend to death.

Of course, for the most part I only know of Lost Girl from its U.S. airing, but I’m a fan, and Linda Hamilton showing up is just too cool.
She’ll be guest-starring as an assassin no less, and it ought to be a rather fun trip. Call me crazy, but this show just gets better and better, and I love to see things coming south.
Are you a fan of the show, and is this a good move?
Check out all the info below.

“Xiii”, about one of those super badass spy types forced to act, started life as a comic book before being adapted into a 2008 mini-series starring Stephen Dorff. The film probably had way too much similarities to “The Bourne Identity” for most people’s liking, with a hero suffering from amnesia and bad guys trying to kill him and a conspiracy to unravel and such. Which leads us to “Xiii: The Series”, which as you probably guess, is a TV series based off the same character and follows the events of the mini-series. Stuart Townsend is now the very capable badass spy, and he’s joined by lovely lasses Aisha Tyler and Virginie Ledoyen. Xiii is the story of a man’s quest to uncover the truth about his identity. Named for the Roman numeral tattooed on his neck, Xiii is a former secret operative who cannot remember his past. Hunted by a dark anti-government organization,...

We haven't been covering "Lost Girl" much lately, but we did want to pass on the news that Syfy has renewed the hit series (it's the #1 cable drama among Adults 18-49 and 25-54 in its time period) for a third season of 13 episodes, beginning January 2013.

Excellent news about a fun, entertaining supernatural crime show with some cool creatures, a fair amount of sex and terrific chemistry between the characters. Hopefully you’ve been catching Lost Girl on Syfy, Mondays at 10/9c. The show is Syfy‘s only “acquired” scripted series. It’s a Canadian production and has been broadcast there with great success and rabid fans, if my international Twitter feed is any indication.
It was renewed for a third season in Canada back in December, before Season 1 debuted here on Syfy in January. Syfy began airing Season 2 the week after Season 1 concluded, and Season 2 is still rolling out now. It’s great news that we’ll be seeing the third season here as well. Here’s the press release:

Well, there’s a much bigger audience for this news than there was when I mentioned that the second of Lost Girl was coming, so hopefully there are a lot of you out there that are glad to hear that Season 3 is getting underway.
It’s timely news as well, now that Syfy kicked off Eureka! last night, which hopefully gave Lost Girl even more of a boost. It’s also timely, because I know there are some folks out there who started to wonder when Syfy began talking about Season 2 of a rebroadcast show that didn’t actually have a Season 3 yet.
I love Syfy for airing the show, but it’s tricky for some fans who may find themselves unsure how much they want to invest in a show, when the network you’re watching it on isn’t really in control of what happens.
At any rate,...

As part of our coverage of the DVD & Blu-ray release of Tarsem Singh’s stylistically impressive and surprisingly narratively coherent “Immortals” we had the chance to speak with Greg Bryk who plays The Monk.
He proved to be as intelligent, considered and candid an interview subject as you could hope for, covering his own route into the film, along with his thoughts on its strengths and those of Singh. We started off asking him how he came to be cast as The Monk:-
Greg Bryk: Initially I read for the part of Hyperion, but the studio wanted a name for that role (it eventually went to Mickey Rourke). Tarsem’s producing partner had seen me in A History of Violence and really liked me, so asked me to put together about 20 minutes of my favourite stuff. They mulled that over and knew they wanted me in there somehow.

Vinnie Jones is making a foray into series television with two projects.
The British actor is attached to star in a hourlong series for Alex Cole's Elevate Entertainment and Jay Firestone's Canadian production company Prodigy Pictures.
Additionally, Jones has been tapped to guest star on NBC's dramedy "Chuck," where he will play Karl Stromberg, an expert hit man with a soft side.
The untitled new series, based on an upcoming comic book series by Howard Chaykin, centers on Jake Noble, an international spy who teams with his long-lost daughters he never knew existed.
"I never really thought of TV before as a medium for me," Jones said. "However, with it becoming such a source of creativity these days, and this project with its modern James Bond style and feeling to it, I couldn't resist."
Elevate and Prodigy plan to produce 22 episodes independently at a budget of about $2 million an episode.

Three years after she premiered Marie Antoinette at the Cannes Film Festival, Sofia Coppola is returning to cinemas with a new film she wrote and will direct called Somewhere. Much like her 2003 film Lost in Translation, Somewhere will be set in a hotel -- though this time she's returning to the States and bringing her cute, angsty Fem Anderson-ish style to the iconic Chateau Marmont hotel in Hollywood.
Wanting to make (in her words) "an intimate story set in contemporary Los Angeles," Somewhere will follow a "bad-boy actor" who's forced to reexamine his life after a surprise visit from his 11-year-old daughter. Possibly looking to capitalize on the new born-again-actor trend, Coppola has cast Stephen Dorff, a guy who's just trying to come back to acting in movies people have actually heard of); one of his last roles was as Ross Tanner on two episodes of Xiii last year. Opposite Dorff will be Elle Fanning,...

NBC's hit comedy "The Office" will get the coveted post-Super Bowl spot next year, while the new drama "Kings" will take over for "ER" on Thursday nights after the long-running medical drama airs its series finale.
The post-Bowl position is considered the most valuable piece of programming real estate on television, exposing a series to tens of millions of viewers. NBC will air a special one-hour episode of its Emmy-winning comedy after the game concludes Feb. 1.
" 'The Office' is a perfect fit for after the Super Bowl," NBC scheduling chief Mitch Metcalf said. "It's going to be a hilariously funny hour, and I think people will be in the mood to laugh after the big game."

Cannes -- After a British invasion on stateside small screens, the Union Jack is being replaced by the French tricolore as Gallic TV programs become increasingly a la mode in the U.S.
The miniseries "Xiii" proved to be a lucky number for French pay TV network Canal Plus, with the English-language drama giving the channel its highest ratings yet for a homegrown fiction series.
The $20 million, four-hour production attracted 1.1 million viewers for each of the two-part episodes, which aired Oct. 6 and Oct. 13. NBC will broadcast "Xiii" in the winter, and Canal Plus is planning a sequel, depending on NBC's ratings.
The adaptation of Jean Van Hamme and William Vance's popular comic book, produced by Cipango, stars Val Kilmer and Stephen Dorff. M6 and Canal Plus put up 2 million euros ($2.7 million) each for the political thriller and Canada's Power TV and prodigy funded the remaining budget for the European majority co-production.
