Nekkid Odin & Not Really Woke
rebsothoth1 February 2021
The first five minutes could be interpreted as "wokeness", but really, it's more about how Gods need worshippers, and the more they have and the more unified they are, the stronger the Gods are. It's the same theme as Odin telling Johann that he needs to stop fighting and keep performing music to get more followers. Not really a spoiler, but the high point of the episode was seeing a dazed and naked Odin flashing traffic. There's a little about Bilquis, and about how much she depends on her followers for power, and on other Gods that she'd left behind. There are some weird Technical Boy special effects, and he's clearly breaking down because of the tech billionaire's disappearance, so I'm curious about that power dynamic with the New Gods. There's also a continuation of the subplot involving the Deadwife, who I disliked in the first season, but I find her complicated relationship with Sweeney interesting and I hope he's actually going to return at some point. All in all, yes, it's filler intended to reiterate the importance of the planned war. But it's enjoyable filler, and there was some very good acting in it from secondary characters. It gains bonus points for being dedicated to Cloris Leachman.

The second coming of Laura Moon.
marckline000-672 February 2021
Fast forward and realize these charactor's each have a story to tell . This episode marks the end of Mad Sweeney and being reborn for Laura Moon. She finally after almost three seasons can eat and feel alive once again . Am thankful she gets a second chance to live and explore and maybe Shadow will give her a second chance of becoming man and wife Gods. As for Wednesday having a concussion caused by Marilyn Manson , it merely could have been a gas leak. Mr World , Bilquis , loud dreadful noise , should have been a mall scene instead , oh look fountains half price. What was missing from this episode , Lakeside, say has the car sunk yet.

Crazy like a fox

Seven stars. Polemics are lousy story telling. So let's start with a long one. Now let's try to get the story going again. That the writers managed to recover from such a lousy intro is a pretty good feat. The Bilquis stuff is the center of his one, and turns on the non-canonical team-up between Shadow and Technical Boy. As a big fan of the novel, I'll say this is one change I really like. Those Mutt-n-Jeff combos are a great source for both comedy and high concept. As for Wednesday, having Marilyn Manson as an Odin worshipper is hysterically on the nose. So is Wednesday's ruse to get back to Demeter. I just loved it when he stumbled out of the burning wreakage, reciting "Pressed Rat and Warthog". Had to explain that one to my son. And Laura, now back with us, has to decide why. I got the impression that the people in charge finally realize that they have to get on with the story. Was it too little, too late?

There's filler episodes in all TV series, this is pure twaddle
namstonk1 February 2021
So the writing has gone to pot as much as the actual storyline. Yet more of the disliked 'wife', some bizarre boohoo woke rubbish and once again pretty much nothing happens. If they are struggling to make the episodes entertaining, surely it would make sense to reduce the amount of episodes per season.

Useless episode
klizanets4 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode has no story development whatsoever. No wonder this wasn't in the book, otherwise it would make it as boring as this episode. I also don't like how much screen time they gave to a very secondary character like Bilquis, she is mentioned in the novel just a couple of times.

Garbage
DizzleZ7 October 2021
What a disappointing slide in quality. Terrible story, slow pacing and total shift from its original premise. Bottom of the dumpster on a hot August afternoon bad.
