Dissatisfying final season and series finale
notar0b0t22 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Very disappointing finale. I know it's due in part to the pandemic (apparently you can't say its name) but whew, what a letdown. You mean to tell me Cookie went back to Lucious once more, undoing all the progress she'd made this season? And Hakeem stays in his sham marriage with Maya? What? I think Lucious dying in that fight with Damon Cross would have been a better way to tie up both their storylines than the one they went with. I wish they gave us more details about Jamal's situation, other than vaguely mentioning he and Kai were adopting a baby in 6x15. Overall, a disappointing season, if you exclude Taraji P. Henson's performance, who was always flawless. Here's to hoping they can someday film the last episodes they had originally planned, which maybe would redeem this season! Edit: edited second sentence because the pandemic's name got censored.

This is not what was promised!

Warning: Spoilers
An entire season I watched the show, waiting for the big finale. It turns out: I watched it for nothing! I can understand that circumstances made it difficult, but the start from the season (gunshot at Lucious) and the car exploding with Loretha/Cookie in it's all gone!

For me the biggest fail since Game of Thrones ended. I hope they're going to make some sort of closure, because yes, it ends with a positive note. But it doesn't do justice to the promising first part of this season.

It's just that I couldn't give less than one star, but if I could, I would have.

A pity that a telly show started so strongly ended up so messy.

While I'm definitely not a fan of Jussie Smollet, or of the violence and backstabbing in almost every episode, I'm glad this series ended on a positive note. After all, all we have is family - & Empire's strongest and best moments are when the Lyon family sticks together.

Nope

What about all the teasers for the last year about Lucius mourning over a coffin & saying "a father shouldn't have to bury his own child"..? There was NONE of that, no closure to anything. Just in this episode, the time jumps were hard to keep up with. Very rushed & they obviously tried to wrap up everything in this episode. This was not the way this series should've ended, not in my opinion as someone who has watched since day 1. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is for the music.

Wait... So that was the series finale? Boring. No loose ends were tied up at all. Didn't really finish the story they tried telling this season. Most disappointing series finale I've watched.

What?!

What did I just watch?!

Started with a weird imaginary fight scene and ended with a Steven Segal style home invasion. This is a bizarre ending and tried to round up so many loose ends in one episode that it just failed miserably!! On the positive side, the final song summarised the show well and had some throwbacks from previous seasons that was a fitting ending.
