I've watched the Dart Scene a dozen times
steveborba-5068830 January 2021
Reviewing this episode alone for everything delivered by the promise of the dart scene that hinges entirely on Jason Sudeikis's handling of that monologue. The way he communicates so much anger and frustration with the "manners" line and look is something you couldn't convince me he could manage before seeing this show. My wife said it best: I wish I could forget I watched this show and watch it all over again.

Keeps on delivering
kcrateau19 September 2020
I am amazed every Friday that this show can deliver such an array of story and character development in such a small amount of time. The comedy is there, the drama is there, and it all comes together very nicely. The soundtrack helps all the way and I'm invested in so many characters that I want this to keep going. Love the way that episodes don't always end on cliffhangers, But Leave you wanting so badly to know what the next chapter it's going to be like.

So much joy in 30 min
idrincon19 September 2020
The typical 30 min US sitcom will take one theme and run with it. Tested formula that works. But this show is so different. There are so many things happening that you wonder how is it possible. But it is not only possible: it is masterful! And then you get scenes like The Diamond Dogs with Roy that are like a mini-movie itself. Amazing!

It's a 10/10

Warning: Spoilers
Again heartwarming, surprising and funny. From the gathering of the Diamond Dogs to the dart game (oh, I forgot. I am left handed) then there is this moving underdog story, which describes exactly Teds story with the team, the club and the fans. You can feel him, his history and see how and why he succeeded in his past and surely in the future. It's so simple: this is the most beautiful tv series out there.

Dart scene = all time great TV scene
themovieguy005 April 2023
The Dart Scene is one of my favorite scenes in any television episode ever -- the setup with smug Rupert, the "oh snap!" twist when Ted switches from right to (natural) left hand, the monologue Ted delivers about being underestimated his whole life (which speaks so much about his character's past and present), the subtle stunned/guilty look Rebecca wears when Ted mentions playing darts "every Sunday with my Dad from age 10 until he passed away when I was 16" and the viewer realizes she didn't know that information (and she realizes how self-absorbed and awful she is)... just pure TV perfection.

Can make me laugh out loud and form tears in my eyes. Dammit you brilliant producers. You done it with Ted Lasso.

The deeper this show digs into relationship dynamics the more interesting it gets.

The Diamond Dogs Warning: Spoilers
A great episode right here, the ending darts match, the fact you think Rebecca has changed her ways but then it is discovered that she absolutely has not is absolutely brilliant television. Well done to the writers, directors, actor and all.

Aren't We Lucky

Ted is overcome with guilt for sleeping with the very attractive best friend of Rebecca's. So tells Beard and they go to the coach's room and commiserate. It is determined that their little group will now be known as the Diamond Dogs--for no good reason. They will be able to solve problems when asked. Rebecca has returned to being a jerk even after Ted put her ex in his place in a dart game (a terrific scene). There is so much joy in this show, but it is not juvenile silliness. We are growing to love each character, even Jamie who pops back in for a quickie. One sort of forgotten character is Leslie who puts up with so much. He becomes one of the Diamond Dogs and that is great.

Bullseye!
xmasdaybaby196611 June 2023
Now I have let go of tbe thought of this being a laugh a minute comedy I am enjoying this more.

I watched the first 7 episodes yesterday so this was a good start to the next binge session but not as strong as the previous episode.

It now seems to be more of a soap than a comedy drama but still gas it's moments as characters put their frailties on show.

These things might happen in the USA but proud Englishmen of any age let alone young would expose their inhibitions but I guess this is TV land so works best like that.

The annoying thing was the darts fame where Ted finished with a Bullseye rather than a double scoring dart as agreed with Rupert but still a good watch.

This show delivers the laughs, good storytelling and even a surprise at the end each and every week.

Not the strongest episode, but this program consistently is solid.

The Diamond Dogs
Prismark1012 April 2023
The aftermath of the victory against Everton. Nate sleeps on the team coach as he does not want to miss it. Ted Lasso has a one night stand with Sassy, one of Rebecca's friends.

This prompts him to get advice from the Diamond Dogs. Coach Beard, Nate and now also Higgins. They reconvene later to give Roy Kent ome relationship advice regarding Keeley.

Rebecca has a meeting with other club shareholders at the pub. Only for her ex husband Rupert to walk in. He has bought the minor shares under his girlfriends Bex's name.

Smelling trouble, Ted challenges Rupert to a game of darts where if Ted wins. Rupert cannot bother Rebecca with the club's affairs.

With Higgins in the Diamond Dogs, it contrasts with how Ted treats him and the way Rebecca always humiliating him.

Ted still ignorant how Rebecca with the help of Higgins wants to destroy AFC Richmond. Again sees through Rupert. The speech about him always been underestimated was brilliant, as he then switched his dart playing hand.

A very enjoyable episode, with lots of camaraderie. It leaves Rebecca having to be pushed to tell Ted the truth.
