Spinning Adventure

This game is another under the radar gem, this game is pretty much "Metal Slug" mixed with "Indiana Jones".

Not much to the plot only some Dr. Willy wanabe kidnaps your girlfriend while racing to find the same treasure you seek and stopping you in your tracks, so it's up to you to save your girlfriend and find the treasure. Yeah, I know typical damsel in distress cliché and part of the plotline doesn't really make sense. But it's not important, that plotline is just a close line for what were in this game for the action and it delivers on that well.

I really like the graphical presentation which I think look really good, sort of like a 90's cartoon look; it kind of the same look like with the game "Caveman Ninja" of course this game is from the same guys. Really like the character animation where the characters are human but a little comical looking. What I really like is the facial expressions on them which make them lively, really like it whenever there are expressions of pain which are satisfying and kind of funny.

Music is good though nothing I want to replay on my phone but still serves its purpose as it has an adventure tone. The gameplay is very good, really like the adventure format as each level you go though is slightly different then the other filled with some different kinds of enemies like the mad doctors hooded henchmen, stone roman soldiers and oversized scary masked cannibals. Along with bosses which are colorful though easy to beat like a series of giant nasty colored snakes, a giant water dragon and a stone stature that switches heads.

The control is responsive, you have your fire button, emergency weapon button, and slide button. Part of what makes the game stand out are in the weapons you weld, from your primary weapon the Yo-Yo which yeah I know kind of a daft weapon but actually turns out to be pretty cool and I like that it's a non-cliché weapon, the only other times I've seen a yo yo used as a weapon are in the NES games "Startropics" and "Yo Noid" also under the radar gems. The yo yo you weld is a buzz sawing mace which is an effective offence and defense weapon, has power to knock out enemies and take obstacles down, however, goes a minimum distance. But it's not the only weapon you weld as you pick up a lot of other weapons along the way which each have their strengths and weaknesses.

From bombs which have a lot of power but not a lot of range, Icicles which can freeze and shatter enemies quickly but don't have much power for the bigger enemies. Fireballs are more balanced as they have a reasonable range and power and cook your enemies. Shurikens also reasonable range and power, they shoot two different directions at once. My favorite is the lighting which is cool as you are throwing lighting charged heat seeking bullets, that weapon you are practically unstoppable, only disappointment is this weapon appears rarely in the game.

You can also push down on the fire button to charge yourself up to double to power of your weapon. And of course you even have your emergency measures weapon for when things get harry, kind of like in "Golden Axe" this weapon varies depending on which weapon your armed with, with the yo yo you summon multiple yo yo that surround you in a wide radius, knocking down any enemies that come within the radius. Another is multiple hurricane when armed with the Icicle.

The only problems I have with the game are that it's a little short and kind of easy for me anyway. But same can be argued with a lot of other run and guns, ride is short but a sweet ride. This game is one of those weekend rentals games you like to play through occasionally, it's also a good game for beginners in the run and gun genre of video games.

If you're into vintage run and guns, or even vintage arcade games from "Neo Geo" and "Data East" this game is a hidden treasure worth uncovering and is worth a spin.
