Black Devil Doll! A movie so fantastic, I had to double-dip! Just kidding! This is Black Devil Doll from Hell on steroids—minus the “from Hell” but nonetheless closer to it. Is Chester Novell Turner turning (sorry) in his grave? We’ll have to look closer to find out.
So a Black Power terrorist is given the electric chair, but his spirit lives on. A girl named Heather accidentally summons his soul with an Ouija board, and the spirit moves into a black ventriloquist dummy. She falls in love with the Black Devil Doll but he just wants her for sex (natch), so he has her bring over her pornstar-body friends. She goes to McDonalds and he rapes and kills all of them. We get plenty of white acrylic sperm, copious moaning, and an uncomfortable level of (acidic?) shit. Some of it is erotic, some of it is just nasty.

Stranger things have happened—but that does not stop this from being pure weird! Chester Novell Turner cannot be stopped either. The future was still beckoning him into Tales from the Quadead Zone when he decided to start work on Black Devil Doll from Hell—a bizarrely ordinary story of corruption, death, and puppetry. Wholly fascinating and ironically irresistible, Black Devil Doll is supremely hated—but why?
Helen Black (Quadead Zone‘s Shirley L. Jones) is a God-fearing Christian who decides to buy a puppet from a thrift store. Little does she know that it contains the evil spirit of an East Indian magician, and is thus the Black Devil Doll from Hell! The Black Devil Doll grants the heart-felt wish of its owner, and in Helen’s case it turns out all that God stuff was bull, and she just wanted to get laid! So the Doll hilariously and...

Black Devil Doll. Hobo With A Shotgun. Now, can writer/director James Bickert's up-coming Dear God, No!, an up-coming slice of sleaze covered cheese, create a special stench all it's own among aficionados of bargain basement film making?Lensed, by design, in glorious Super 16mm, to achieve a "heavily saturated image with some grain, to resemble drive-in classics like I Drink Your Blood", Bickert and cinematographer Johnathan Hilton planned their low-rent asses off, then shot all the principle footage in a week. The synopsis is as follows -"After a gruesome battle with rival a club, "Satan's Own", the surviving members of the "Impalers" motorcycle gang two witnesses, tracking them to anthropologist Dr. Marco's secluded mountain cabin. The 2008 film is the story of an executed Black militant who is reincarnated into a vicious ventriloquist’s puppet, causing endless mayhem and murder (to put it mildly). Widely hailed by cult film aficionados and simultaneously condemned for its overt (yet completely tongue-in-cheek) offensiveness, Art Ettinger of Ultra Violent magazine stated, "Black Devil Doll is a triumph, seamlessly blending crass un-pc humor with cerebral artistry. The Lewis Brothers deliver one of the most original exploitation films of the new millennium, a singularly unique mix of brain and brawn.

Last year the cult hit "Black Devil Doll" took the horror world by storm due to brothers Shawn Lewis and Jonathan Lewis. Their next film looks to take things up another notch with the crazy sounding flick, "Bottomfeeder"...
Below is a description of the film from our friends at Horror Squad,
Featuring a script by Masters of Horror writer Stephen Romano and a leading performance from Joe Pilato -- better known as Capt. Rhodes from Romero's "Day of the Dead" -- the project looks to be off to an auspicious start.
Pilato will play Detective Joe Angell, a bad cop who thought he'd seen everything until he catches a case involving a mutated man/fish who's wandered out of the toxic sludge in a California river and is on the prowl for nubile young women (I love this already...). That's just one of the detective's problems though, as Angell --...

It's amazing how many people's feathers got ruffled over Jonathan Lewis' cinematic homage to all things tasteless, Black Devil Doll (review here). With the release of the brand spanking new Black Devil Doll Soundboard, we're willing to bet there's gonna be a lot more upset folks out there soon enough!
"The Black Devil Doll Soundboard is Live!" says producer Shawn Lewis. "We encourage our fans to use the board for Prank Calls! Have fun with it and email us your calls. If they are recorded in good quality and they are funny, we will post them on official sites, and we will also use them on future DVD and Blu-ray releases of Black Devil Doll."
If only we had the time. Still ... we'll be listening. A word of advice? Don't answer your phone and keep your eye on YouTube! Dig on the soundboard by clicking the image below.

Shoreline Entertainment has recently signed three films by notorious low budget filmmaker Creep Creepersin, just in time for Afm.
First up is Orgy of Blood, an erotic vampire film starring Domiziano Arcangeli, who is also executive producer. The film, also starring Chandler Maness ("Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency"), Randal Malone (Curse of Lizzie Borden), Jeff Dylan Graham (Psychosomatika), and a slew of horror genre favorites, wrapped in May. Orgy of Blood was written and directed by Creep Creepersin and produced by Aine Leicht and Nikki Wall.
Shoreline also snapped up two more Creepersin films for release as a Grindhouse-style double feature: The Creep Creepersin Double Featuresin. Comprised of Vaginal Holocaust and Caged Lesbos a-Go-Go, the double feature is a heavy throwback to 60’s and 70’s exploitation films.
Vaginal Holocaust takes the viewer on a trip where rape and revenge go hand in hand with redneck vampires and a man-eating vagina! It...

October 27th is shaping up to be one of the best Tuesdays of the year for DVD and Blu-ray aficionados what with the release of Night of the Creeps, Orphan, Fear(s) of the Dark, and The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue (aka Let Sleeping Corpses Lie). Throw in over-the-top cult favorite in the making Black Devil Doll, and your shopping cart is already pretty full.
And that doesn't even include the long awaited Dead Air starring genre fave Bill Moseley (who also has another film out this week, Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet, with Danielle Harris), Graham Reznick's indie head-trip I Can See You, the promising Sauna from Finland, and horror spoof Stan Helsing (What can I say? I'm a sucker for Leslie Nielsen in anything.).
These gems and lots more await you in the EvilShop!

If, like me, you’ve been following the unstoppable buzz surrounding director Jonathan Lewis’ goofy 2007 retro exploitation extravaganza “Black Devil Doll” for quite some time, you’re probably wondering when, precisely, the film is scheduled to debut on DVD. The wait, I’m happy to report, is officially over: “Black Devil Doll,” the film that should, according to its own hype, offend just about everyone, will have its way with your fragile psyche on October 27th, which is just in time for Halloween. How cool is that? I’m certainly excited, though my expectations have been properly restrained until my own eyes have seen the glory for themselves. The premise might sound intriguing, but the execution could be sorely lacking. You know how it is. In case you were wondering, the synopsis: Five beautiful young women, one evil, murderous puppet. Heather thought that a Ouija board was nothing but an innocent child’s game.

This may be the craziest news we've heard all day. On the heels of an upcoming DVD release of the excellent "Black Devil Doll" comes news that the film is being adapted into a paperback novelization! Say the producers: Coming this August, a Black Devil Doll movie tie-in paper back Novel! Written by Stephen Romano, based on the screenplay by Mitch Mayes and Shawn Lewis, with an introduction by Louis Fowler! We just finished reading the final draft of the book over the weekend and it's a fucking masterpiece, the perfect companion to the movie, a real one-two punch of entertainment. Romano has managed to take our toilet humor script to another level of lowness. Its shocking, hilarious, and guaranteed to jolt you with ten thousand volts of pure sleaze and touch you deeply in places we promise you Never wanted to be touched! Meanwhile, the DVD is due to...

First, a few street date updates: Shout! Factory’s DVD of Audition, which we broke the news on here, will arrive October 6. Monarch Video will release Farmhouse (see our review here) September 29; look for a making-of featurette and possibly other special features on that one. And First Look will issue Kyle Rankin’s big-bug opus Infestation on October 13, following its Syfy cable debut (see previous item here).
Lowest Common Denominator Entertainment has set an October 27 street date for its long-awaited special-edition disc of Black Devil Doll, and gave Fango the scoop on the complete details. The saga of an executed black militant’s spirit entering a ventriloquist’s dummy and wreaking all sorts of outrageous, politically incorrect havoc will be presented in widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, plus an insane amount of special features:

Whenever a genre festival lumbers into town, the first thing I do is evaluate its lineup by researching what my Twitch teammates have had to say about any of the programmed films. Here’s a heads-up on how they weigh in for Holehead 2009.

Having just concluded their first annual Deep Red International Festival of Fantastic Film in Portland, Or, organizers Shade Rupe and Chris Bavota are now gearing up to repeat the chilling experience in Seattle. The event will take place Friday-Saturday, May 8-9 at the Grand Illusion Cinema (1403 Ne 50th Street).

eSplatter had the pleasure of catching a screening of "Black Devil Doll" over the weekend. Great movie! Look for our review soon and for the film to hit DVD in the U.S. in July. Meanwhile, we learned some info on the forthcoming "Black Devil Doll 2." The sequel, if it happens (everything is dependent on the success of "Black Devil Doll 1"), will be set in space, according to producer Shawn Lewis. Sounds like an excellent concept for a horror comedy featuring this absolutely hilarious new horror character. Again, we will get our review of "Black Devil Doll" up in a couple days -- but this film is an absolutely hilarious, politically incorrect gore fest in the spirit of the best Troma movies. The film also had a premiere at the New Beverly that apparently went over very well.

While we wait for the premiere of Jonathan Lewis' Black Devil Doll on April 17th in Los Angeles (click here for ticket details), another project by the prolific young director has come to our attention. Darkness of the Night, aka Nerezza Della Notte, starring actress/model/professional wrestler Shelly Martinez was completed by Lewis during post-production of Black Devil Doll, and you can check out the teaser trailer below.
A brief outline of Darkness of the Night is as follows: A young woman drinking herself to death, a fiancé missing for days, a man in a brown suit being followed, a corrupt relationship of confused love, and violent murders all play into this darkness which we call the night.

Writer/producer Shawn Smith sent along the news that his perverted-puppet shocker Black Devil Doll will have its West Coast premiere Friday, April 17 at midnight at La’s New Beverly Cinema (7165 West Beverly Boulevard). And if you attend, you might be part of the DVD!
“We will be filming at this screening for a DVD extra, so be there!” Smith says; the disc is currently scheduled for release later this spring or summer. He goes on to note that the showing is the same weekend as our West Coast Weekend of Horrors, and just a short cab ride away from the La Convention Center, where our shindig will take place.
Directed by Jonathan Lewis from a script by Shawn and Mitch Mayes, Black Devil Doll is the saga of a ventriloquist’s dummy that becomes possessed by the spirit of an executed African-American militant and becomes a bloodthirsty, bad-ass murdering mofo.

To pre-order, just e-mail Shawn at Rotten Cotton and be sure you have “Bdd Full Color” as the subject line! And if you need more incentive, check out the very much Not Work Safe Black Devil Doll trailer below … again!
