The Lonely Herdsman

Warning: Spoilers
'TGGG' became quite an inconsistent show after S2, and this is not one of the better episodes.

For a start, continuity seems to have gone out of the window. Is it 2 years or 3 since the Boyce's moved to the country. Nobody seems really sure.

Despite a good guest star in June Whitfield, and a cameo from Ricky Hatton, this episode's main plot isn't that funny, a load of old nothing really, with only the subplot involving the staff being decent enough.

Not great overall and disappointingly

Poor Episode

This has to be the weakest episode in the show's run so far. Boycie, Marlene and Tyler visit Marlene's mum played by the fantastic June Whitfield. There's some funny one liners between Boycie and his Mother-In-Law, but I feel the story didn't lead to anything interesting.

Perhaps too much time in this episode was spent focusing on the supporting character's where Elgin, Jed and Mrs Cakeworthy set Brian up with an internet dating profile which doesn't provide any clever laughs.

The supporting characters are too over the top in the Green, Green Grass, compared to Only Fools were they were believable. Trigger was 'stupid' but not over the top, and he was only used in select episodes throughout that show's run, especially in the beginning.

The supporting character's here are far too weak to have their own story line separate from Boycie and Marlene. The laughs are provided by Boycie's response to the stupidity of the farm hands.

Series 3 starts the down fall of the series.
