Romantic fantasy, Raven-style
lor_27 September 2019
I was surprised to see the low rating accorded Michael Raven's "Quiver" by voters a this database, as it is a well-crafted fantasy from the hot director of a decade ago. Perhaps the softness of his romantic approach has gone out of style in a gonzo age.

Jessica Drake stars as a woman whose dreams are haunted by visions of Greek lovers, notably Evan Stone as Eros (or Cupid, both names used of his character here) and Jassie as his lover Psyche. With Jessica also handling the voice-over narration, the film weaves in and out of fantasy and reality, as Jess also gets to make love to Stone when he appears, in modern dress in her bedroom at night.

Like so many wonderful Couples Romances produced by the Adult industry back around the turn of this century "Quiver" manages to weave an ethereal spell for those viewers willing to succumb to its charms. Its failure to conform to porn cliches is an asset in my opinion, even if audiences have since move on to harder stuff.
