Another episode with a bizarre concept where Boycie and his farm staff enter a reality show which is called something along the lines of 'Farm Idol'. The concept is daft but it does well to poke fun at the many reality TV productions that were in their heyday when this episode was released.

There are a few laughs in this episode, even though Boycie seems very much out of character throughout.

The other bizarre inconsistency is that Ray the pub landlord enters the farm idol contest, as a rival to Boycie. Perhaps this was originally written with Llewelyn in mind who has yet to appear in series 3.

Mrs Cakeworthy is also involved in an over the top sub plot which sees her camouflaging up to spy on Marlene.

Not the shows best but far from the worst.

As much as the efforts of other writers to mimic the style of John Sullivan were commendable, a level of inconsistency in the writing quality of 'TGGG' emerged in the episodes in which he did not write.

This episode written by David Cantor is a good example. The premise is just a bit too silly for its own good, and I didn't understand why Ray was suddenly a rival to Boycie when there had been no evidence of this previously.

There is a subplot involving Mrs Cakeworthy and Marlene, but that's not up to much either.

Not a great episode.
