Flawed Character Choice...
songod-9500314 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Taking evidence from an old crime and planting it in someone's car to get them on drug possession may have worked in 1940; but today, even in Nowheresville USA, it is too easy to get caught. Mare should have known that. Thus her actions made zero sense and did not fit in with her character up to this point. She maybe determined and bitter but she isn't stupid.

The birth mothers past history ought to be enough to keep her from getting custody. I would at least think so.

Increased emotional drama lessens suspense grip building up from previous episodes
etherealreviews5 May 2021
"Enter Number Two" maintains the emotional hold crafted by the series' first episodes. It progresses the story little but develops more of Easttown residents' lives. This episode dives more into the characters' personal lives and almost every character has a change brought into their lives.

Kate Winslet, again proves that she was written for this part. The emotional fatigue in her performance evokes an empathy within the viewer so much so that we almost neglect her flaws which culminate so early in the season.

So far, Mare of Easttown has been fresh and even though this episode doesn't up the ante, it maintains it with grace.

Why you gotta be so complicated

Flawed characters for the win. The storyline is developing and well and adding different dimensions. Acting is stellar, Evan Peters slayed this episode in so many ways.

Rooting For Flawed Characters
john-west833 May 2021
You know the writing, acting, etc. Is good when you're rooting for flawed characters. We can all identify aspects of the various characters with people we know in life, which makes shows like this more relatable. This show is much more than JUST a whodunnit - at heart it's about how these characters overcome the struggles in their lives. How far would you go to keep from losing the people you love most? For Mare, that questioned is answered in this episode. Great acting, great writing. Well done!

Best show on television.

This show is so layered with great performances all around. The story captivates you by the 2nd episode. It's such a emotional roller coaster that honestly is the reason why I watch tv in the first place. Excellent!

I see Evan Peters....

And I rate 10 stars :)

It's just what I do. He's the best younger actor of this generation. He can play any role flawlessly.

Is Mare falling apart?

Warning: Spoilers
Great acting. New evidence emerges pointing to one of the priests. Drew still lives, but is he the father? Will Ken face the music for the shooting? How far will Mare fall to keep her grandson?

I have a few complaints...
grondonamanu24 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
1) The idea of Mare planting evidence is completely stupid. Too easy to get caught of. She's not that dumb, she's determined and stubborn.

2) Why is the father of the boy still alive?? He was shot by his girlfriend's father and left in the forrest all alone. It makes no sense he is still alive, besides talking like nothing happened. The said some people found it but it is kind of ridiculous. The man shot him and was absolutely determined to kill him, why he didn't shoot him again? Or even make sure he was dead!!

3) The first minutes of this episodes were rush. I didn't like the scene when Mare confronts her ex-husband, everything happened very fast with no explanation.

4) They keep showing us scenes about Mare's daughter and her dates. I hope it is important at the end, if not... well it is a waste of my time.

  • HUGE points for Evan Peters. He really stole this episode, I hope he gets an Emmy nomination.

Enter Number Two

Warning: Spoilers
The chief placed her on administrative leave after finding out she had planted heroin in her grandson's mother's car so that she couldn't take her son's custody. The deacon dropped Erin's bicycle from the bridge. Mare cannot accept the fact that her son took his own life.

[6.8] No aim, purpose and happiness left
cjonesas8 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly speaking, the episode isn't a 2-3 nor a 9-10. Delving into characters' life is good, but not at the expense of a dismal flow lasting 60 minutes topped with bad editing contributing to almost nothing, besides highlighting the crushed characters, useless bar scenes, embarrassing "disputes" between ex-husband and wives and most importantly, a constant look of fatigue, stunned depressed state with repressed anger on the main character's face that make her totally unlikable and ruin her good acting.

I won't even start on the planted evidence, how futile and unprofessional it was, besides begging for more extended scenes, the handing over of her gun and badge and the last scene making it look like she's going to hang herself.

To some the show is deep and relatable; to me, it seems more like a character study with a mini crime investigation in the background. As such, it lacks speed, flow, minimum suspense and real action, and it's like 80 y.o. Detectives, relatives, family and friends strolling around in a camp full of retired people, already disgusted with life, with no aim, purpose and happiness left.

Incredulous
bobwelsh-341337 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I hate bad plot lines and poor writing. Totally believable that a detective sergeant would go to the evidence locker and steal 2 bricks of heroin and not cover her tracks better. Also what's a small town police station keeping 36 bricks in storage?
