Okay, I'll confess, I'm from the old school. You know, the ones who felt Jack Lord was the real Steve McGarrett, and Tom Selleck the real Magnum.
Anyway, after my initial resistance I started watching the new Hawaii Five-0 and found it fun and interesting as the characters developed over the 10 years the show was on the air. Well it's done now and I still need a weekly fix of Hawaii. A few weeks ago, there was a combo back to back episodes of Five-0 and this new Magnum show, so my wife and I decided to watch
It was okay but I had a little trouble with a female Higgins. But she is attractive and I guess I can get used to her. Only time will tell, but Robin Masters buying a Toyota? Is nothing sacred? This is as stupid as Burke riding in the back of a Pinto instead of a classic Rolls Royce!

Good episode.

Warning: Spoilers
The episode was pretty solid, compared to other episodes of the series. I generally enjoyed the emotion, the drama and the action, compared to other episodes. One of the better parts was when Magnum and Higgins busted down the drug dealer's door to ask him a question.
kumu rules

A character like Kumu allows this series to engage in some unusual storylines and whenever they center a show around her, it is very engaging and sometimes very moving. This one doesn't disappoint. In this episode, Kumu comes to the aid of an injured man who then takes her hostage but she, sort of, takes him hostage. It all unfolds in a captivating and intriguing way, with Magnum and Higgins assisting in getting to the bottom of just who this man is and whether he is, in fact, telling the truth.
Amy Hill as Kumu is, as always, just terrific and, here, she is given a lot to do. Her scenes with guest star Dohn Norwood (who is also excellent) are remarkably believable even though the situation they are in might be a tad far-fetched. Their wonderful performances compliment each other to the max.
And Jay Hernandez, Perdita Week, and Tim Kang as Magnum, Higgins, and Katsumoto are in fine form here, giving some of their best performances of this season. Plus, there is plenty of well-filmed action here. One of the best episodes of any series that I have seen this year.

Sometimes this show is bland or corny. I found this episode awesome. People can change when given a second chance.
A show focused on Kumu was very welcome.
And yes, THIS Toyota is in the class of Supercar. But Robin should add a Fisker Karma and a Nissan GT-R NISMO.

Long wait and huge letdown

After such a long mid season break I expected so much more.
Instead it is another episode that is trending now where criminals are just misunderstood romantics with trashed you thrust upon them through their own actions. And the housekeepers mystic one with the universe had charm but has become a one trick pony. At least give the actress more depth in her character.
