Solid episode with a few good laughs. An interesting element brought in at the last minute.

I love this show when it's just being a comedy! It doesn't have much internal logic so you can't think about it too hard - I wish it did. Then it would be perfect.
This whole show would be different without Alan T. I did hear it was supposed to be closer to straight sci-if until he was cast. It's too bad awards shows ignore anything genre because he is so good on every level. His vocal patterns, expressions, and body language are genius. I love all the other cast members too. The woman playing D'arcy is especially funny. Just recently I was rewatching Forever Knight, so I get a kick out of seeing the Captain playing Asta's dad here. I loved how they ended up at a high school party in this episode. I spent a few years living in a small PNW ski town, all of this feels very familiar. The town having gorgeous scenery sure doesn't hurt.
Yeah, it doesn't make sense that the kid can see the alien. I thought first he had some cloaking mechanism, which was why he sees his true form in the mirror. But he's actually changed at a molecular level? But then how did the door to Harry's cabin get fixed in the first episode? Why would the cloaking devise over his ship work like glue? Why were the XFiles types already in Colorado to find the ship in the previous episode, yet now they're in New Mexico? Why would they immediately believe the guy who says he saw an alien to the point that they killed him? So many questions.
I hope the logic issues don't overwhelm the show. I get why some are turned off. If a comedy is totally absurd, like Brooklyn 99 or 30 Rock, you don't get stuck asking questions. But you do when they add in straight drama. I can't imagine how this show would have worked before it became a comedy.

It is episode 3 and I am impressed with just how many different plot strands Resident Alien has to keep it from being one note.
Harry has so much going on, I wonder how he will have time to fit in being the town's resident doctor.
It does not rain on him, it pours. Harry needs to find the remains of his ship so he can destroy all human life. He needs to find the body of the real Harry that he threw in the lake.
The sheriff is dredging the lake as he thinks there is a serial killer in town.
There are some nice scenes such as the alien riding a horse with a cowboy hat.
I did think Harry should had used Google to figure out how to dispose of a body. It is no good in a freezer. Maybe he should had got rid of it, Fargo style. In a woodchipper.

This episode for me is the best one yet, why it's only currently a 7.8 is silly. But this episode was amazing, it was really funny, and had some good tension, and the ending, giving us our first look at the main villains of the season, so I'm well pumped up for next weeks episode.
Keep up the great work!

Not much alien

First 2 episodes were great, 3rd episode slips into an average character development piece.
When the show steps away from the alien, its cracks show as the other characters, apart from the cops, are not that interesting.
