Impossible infatuation
laduqesa19 April 2023
As the IMDB synopsis says, this is a story of a shy younger kid being seduced by an older and far more experienced youth. It's a familiar story to everyone - hopes and love concentrate onto the seducer who has other things to do. Puppy love, in effect. Hugo should have known he was on a hiding to nothing after Ernesto's reaction to affection.

Rejection leads to a shocking act of revenge. Not many spurned lovers would have taken things as far but the actions here were believable; the acting was convincing. Ernesto was perfect as the macho man throwing his sexualuty around. Hugo shone as the baffled cast off.

The settings were evocative. The well from which the film takes its name was a perfect setting for a secret session and the shebeen where Ernesto showed off was simply Cuba.

A definite recommend.

admirable minimalism

Its structureis the main virtue. A kiss in a cave, profound feelings versus cynical hedonism, a cruel scene of revenge . And the silence as basic ingredient. A beautiful short film. Admirable for precise - poetic-precise-cold -honest message. And, no doubts, for the impression to be waitness to the birth of a sketch, admiring each gesture behind each trait.
