Stephen did an excellent job by himself and the staff in place of the audiance. I also feel that Dr Gupta could have covered the Corona Virus in 5 minutes there's just so many ways to say wash your hands, stay at least 6 ft away from other people, cough into your sleeve, napkin or tissue use common sense. I would watch the Stephen Colbert Show if he did it from his livingroom (maybe you could see if Jon would be your backup). LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, YOUR SHOW with or without the audiance.

Good start but lost its legs with the Dr

Gotta say I'm a big fan of Colbert and I knew he'd do great without audience participation.
Truth be told the audience can be really annoying at times and I actually preferred it with just Stephen, his staff, and the camera.
The episode was going well and the banter with his staff, which you never really get to see, was fantastic and Stephen just seemed much more relaxed and geniune in this format.
The 2nd half wasn't that great though. I get that the doc was there to talk about corona but really a 5 minute segment would do. We have had corona knowledge crammed down our throats, sadly the doc didn't add anything new and just rambled on for 20 odd minutes.
Hopefully when Stephen gets an actual guest on this format will be perfect.
