Seeing Red

Warning: Spoilers
Another episode that had some bright spots, but also really dragged on at too many points. And Kamala just randomly goes to Pakistan when her mother was so worried about her attending a simple party before?

The heritage and ethnicity aspects are well told and fun but the story and action are not
harry-3451829 June 2022
The action and cgi isn't good the way it's filmed is week and poor. The acting is great and the culture is fun but the story just feels messy. The camera work feels sloppy and the quirkiness from the last three episodes seems to have faded. The clandestine feels shoehorned in and whilst I was open to the change in powers and enjoyed it at first I dont know how I feel about it now. The cgi isn't great on the powers and it feels they aren't well utilised the power change makes less and less sense.

Grandfather paradox?
aboalhyjaa29 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Sooooo, is Kamala the one who creates the trail of stars? Because she time travelled to when her grandma's story is set in,so she's gonna time travel back and realize it was her all along.

Like she's gonna create the stars from her grandma story!

The soundtracks are amazing! And loved the aspects of pakistani culture.

And finally, I guess were gonna see that Kamala is part inhuman just like she's part Djin! Just like the comics.

The worst one...but not bad
miguelcesar29 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode first half was good, but then after Kamala goes to the camp fire it really starts to go down fast.

I'm portuguese, so maybe thats why i feel like this but i feel they spend to much time in this show focus on Cultural aspects rather then the story itselfs The Partition wasnt well explain so i need to look more into to that.

But again, i dont buy that those guys are the villains and i dont buy that the red daggers are the "heroes" because we didnt spend time with them.

The show is cool but... at the same time kinda boring.

This should have been the second episode, not the 4th one Really want to like 5th and 6th.

Continues to be an average show
sahil-masrur78629 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Pros - 1. Farhan Akhtar's Waleed - a mentor who can fight and dies saving the kids. He also gets the coolest fight scene. Shame they killed him.

2. Pacing - the only episode so far which didn't have any pacing issues 3. Musics - the background score and songs are excellent. Smiled when Pasoori played.

Cons - 1. The Villains motif - its the same old terraforming concept; bringing their dimension to earth.

2. The campfire and party scene - they exist only to show how Kamala don't like spicy foods.

3. The fight and chase scenes - atrociously choreographed and shaky camera.

Lot of fragile white dudes review bombing this show
IrishCreem91430 June 2022
It's a great series. The characters are interesting, the exploration of Kamala's culture is fascinating, it's funny, and it has heart! The negative reviews are just another instance of fragile white dudes hating on something because it's different and scary to them.

So many missed opportunities
mainman-317556 July 2022
I really like Iman and the rest of the cast, but they really need to up the quality of both the writing and the action. Even in a world with cosmic powers, magic, gods, and a multiverse, it's ridiculous that a Pakistani-born Muslim teenage girl is allowed to roam the streets of Karachi on her own without so much as a car. This was obviously written by someone who has very little idea of life in the subcontinent, and shoehorning in 5 seconds of Pasoori isn't going to save subpar writing.

As for the action, I get this story is for a younger audience, but even they are too used to the kind of action we got in Shang Chi, Endgame, or even Hawkeye/FATWS. Been an MCU fan for a decade, but I'm really worried about its future.

I really don't understand the bad ratings
aarongnr29 June 2022
This is honestly great... Unless any of the other Marvel D+ shows, this show actually takes it's time explore the characters and the lore. And I absolutely love the direction it's taking right now. The fight's are pretty good, the stakes are high, and yet it's still a very personal story. I think it's thrilling.

As a person who don't like this show, this was good
toprakcienfal29 June 2022
I rated other episodes 1 points or 2. Because they were bad, didn't give us anything but this episode was a better one, but once again; not satisfying enough. Seeing Pakistani culture is fun, but we dont have to spend 20 minutes each episode. Especially when we have a character we dont know anything about it. The rythm of this show is so weird, one scene it's so chill; and the other scene is too much action which causes distraction. Even though this episode has so many cons, the ending was so good to erase all the cons. I hope episode 5 will be so good and finally we will learn some information about Kamala.

Solid
SHU_Movies29 June 2022
Yet another solid addition to the series. Every week I watch this, I am convinced further and further that Iman is a perfect cast for Kamala! Can't wait for next week, especially after how this episode ended!

Amazing and interesting!
zain_ahmed29 June 2022
It's really a first for Pakistan. Pakistani directors and producers should take notes. Even in streets so tight, they pulled it off amazingly well! Hats off! Story is getting more interesting with each new episode. Trying to keep the review spoiler-free. I'm just so happy that this show is happening in my life time. I can't expect anything remotely as good from Pakistani producers. Thank you marvel for showing me my hometown.

De Volta às Origens
foxbrvar8 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Ms Marvel (2022)

Series

1st Season

Episode Four - De Volta às Origens

I remember that last year, when I watched this series for the first time, I didn't understand why they had traveled out of nowhere, but this time I realized that at the very end of the previous episode, with about 2 minutes left, Kamala's grandmother invites her to go.

If it weren't for the final minute of this episode, I would give this episode a 5, what a bad episode, She-Hulk level CGI, fights with too many cuts that you can't even understand what's happening, one of the worst chases in the MCU (or the worst ).

The only character in this group that I really like is Kamala, her jealous friend took a break in this episode, a guy just came in to die, a guy I just met and is already a BFF, at least he's not worse than She-Hulk.

Episode four of the first season of the Ms Marvel Miniseries watched on May 8, 2024.

Rating: 6/10.

Not Pakistani, But Indian.
SobanSA30 June 2022
The character is tried to be depicted as Pakistani but it is pathetically failed attempt. The Director seems like haven't visited Pakistan in ages. Who in new generation loves to watch classic SRK movies? Indian actors are shown as Pakistanis. Indian English accent is shown as Pakistani.

Hit and miss moments, but I'm still with it
snoozejonc4 July 2022
Kamala and family travel to Pakistan.

This is an okay episode with some good scenes, but I struggled to engage with some aspects the plot.

I enjoyed all the Karachi street scenes and the culture shock moments of Kamala being a long way from New Jersey. The dialogue exchanges between family and the general banter is well done like the previous episodes.

For me the weakest scenes relate to the main action-adventure plot. I do not think this part of the narrative flows very well. It generally involves big exposition dumps that give the required background information before the action, which feels quite generic, explodes into life. (I am not including the chase scene with the Tuk Tuks in that as it is very enjoyable).

Iman Vellani does a great job in the lead role as always.

Overall it feels a bit stop-start and slightly messy. The end reveal promises that next week could be very good, but it's difficult to know what to expect.

Worst episode so far, but not too bad
alianamalika4 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Worst episode so far in the series, but not too bad. Kamala's heritage and family problems are well told, but the storyline and action of this episode are not. There just happens to be Red Daggers who help Kamala and know everything - why don't the writers give some more depth to them? The last few episodes have been a slow-burn, and in this episode, it seems like they're just throwing things at us. In my opinion the first episode is still the best.

A lot of surprises!
adeel-3022230 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So much surprises. Fawad khan, a new female pakistani actress, Farhan akhtar, pasoori, more of Samina ahmed, Red dagger, a whole action scene in Karachi. And above all, TIME TRAVEL to the time of partition.

The negative reviews are from the jealous indians who can't accept that a Pakistani superheroine is in MCU. I'm not accusing all but you know, there are some idiots.

Seeing Red
Prismark101 July 2022
Kamala Khan arrives in Karachi with her mother in tow as she tries to find out from her grandmother about her powers.

While exploring Karachi. Kamala encounters the people from the Red Daggers who explain more about her powers and where they originate from.

The people chasing her are called the Clandestines who have escaped their confinement in America.

The episode has location shooting in Thailand which stood in for Karachi. I guess Covid or political considerations were issue for actual location shooting in Pakistan.

The way the Clandestines escaped detention was way too easy.

You would think someone would have told Kamala Khan by now how to utilise her superpowers.

In every action scene it seems her powers are ad hoc.

The episode moves the story forward as it sheds more light on the Clandestines and what they desire.

AMAZING!
rench-6486129 June 2022
Given the rather biased attitude of the majority, the result is more than natural. The people gave up on the character in advance, which is very wrong, but the situation was not so simple, and the series was able to pleasantly surprise with the first series.

Honestly, I'm already tired of haight, based on the themes of feminism, religion, budget, etc.

It is clear that the authors themselves get high from the story, experiment with shooting, create a lively atmosphere. Yes, it's all secondary and has been shown more than once in old teen shows. But that's what Ms. Marvel does. A kind of nostalgia for the times of the stupidest TV series about growing up, first love, magical powers. You look and feel like a child for 40 minutes.

Interesting, very, interesting!! Getting there...
MrDavidCJohnson30 June 2022
Soooo, our story is adding more and more complexity to the mix as Kamala not only learns more about her family, but complications regarding her TRUE identity. Kudos to the writers of this episode for being true to the action/story design and propelling the situation in the proper direction. Now, what she needs is a personal character flaw, say ... anger issues as a typical teenager which causes her female predecessor, ( or SOMEONE) to emerge as a sage and mentor ... or is that for our next episode. Getting lost in time is truly a hint at something BIG being FOUND! I can't wait! Wow!!

Worst directing/editing/writing of anything in the MCU
C_Ippolito4 July 2022
Unbelievably poor episode. Nickelodeon quality. Would name examples, but it was almost the whole damn episode. Everything with the ClanDestines, the red scarf folks, etc. Brutal action sequences. Embarrassing. As an MCU junkie, this breaks my heart. The show started so well.
