If It Be Man's Work
Prismark1015 February 2022
The first series of Shakespeare & Hathaway after two years.

When malware strikes an IT company about to launch a new money making app.

An old face Spider calls in Lu and Frank. They are happy to leave their sweltering office. Sebastien once again goes undercover.

Of course being a modern IT company. The bosses are horrible obnoxious people. The staff are bullied and have to work long hours, often unpaid.

No wonder one of the ghastly boss is found dead. The suspect just happens to be a woman that Spider has taken a shine to.

DS Keeler seems to have regressed since the last series. He is even more dim.

Once again there is nice repartee between Lu, Frank and Sebastien. I did find some of the acting from the others was ropey.

Nice bit of physical comedy from Jo Joyner, she managed to fall of that bouncing ball twice.

Electric Dreams

Warning: Spoilers
Naomi Yang guest stars as Helena Mau in this season four opener of Shakespeare and Hathaway, which is daytime comfort TV which I enjoy very much, along with Father Brown, Magnum, P. I., and Law and Order and also Barry and Superstore.

Anyway, this episode was okay but kind of dwelt too much on stereotypes and all but still, good to see Frank and Lu back in form after the pandemic hiatus. I'm not sure if Shakespeare and Hathaway will return for season five but hopefully it will.

We were left guessing until the end as to who the murderer was, and it dwelt on parenthood and what comes of that int.

Not the greatest start to the series.

Tech company Forosa are set to launch an incredible new, world first app, having security problems....they call in Shakespeare and Hathaway.

I love this show, but what absolute load of old twaddle this first episode of the new series was. Why on Earth would such a company call in this pair?

The stereotypes are done to death, and when the crime actually does occur, you simply don't care, as said victim is loathsome.

Some cringe acting, but as always Benton and Joyner were wonderful, I did enjoy the scenes with the modern seating.

Very modern, good to see the dynamic duo even have reusable cups.

At times, I hate to say it this was like amateur dramatics, I'm sure things will only get better, Series 3 was so good overall, this wasn't.

4.5/10.

Really Bad Start
Lady_Orc13 January 2023
Love this show, love the actors, love the characters, really happy to see a new season....but this ep was legitimately bad. Probably the worst ep I've seen of this show. Bad directing, bad writing, bad acting, bad mystery. Who cares about the victim, he was awful. The jokes and tech stereotypes were so cringe and outdated, none of the humor landed, which was surprising as this show is usually so funny and charming. The acting from the side characters was appalling, and so was the writing, just couldnt get into it. Also, everything sounded it was recorded inside a bin, not sure what was up with the sound this episode. Hope this is not indicative of the rest of the season.
