It is all in the sweaters
Cedrick the Entertainer and Regina King have brought us a newer, better version of the 1980's family comedy, and if people cannot see that, they are not paying attention.

In the excess-obsessed 1980's we were presented with a great family-oriented tv show, featuring a successful, better-than-the-average-white-guy educated parents, descended from loving, hard-working, successful, LEGENDARY parents. It was entertaining, well-written, and featured many excellent actors, and many more extraordinary guest-stars. Sadly, That same ground-breaking show has turned into a trigger for many who loved it, in its first run as well as syndication. Unfortunately, the namesake of the show has disappointed all of us (and raped a bunch of women, too).

Cedrick has picked up fellow OGK member Bernie Mac's torch, and given us an analogue different enough to not be pathetically obvious, but so comfortingly familiar. Wow. I really wonder what the Mac Man would have had to say about Bill Cosby. Wow. I am saying a lot of things.

Back to The Neighborhood: I LOVE this show. I have always hated the laugh-track sit-com for its dishonesty, but The Neighborhood is both honest, and funny. Sometimes I wonder how many fans of irony have noticed this gem?

All hail the king! (And everyone else! Great job, really.)
