Pretty much every country that used to be in the so-called "Eastern Block" has moved on.

It has been 30+ years since Ceausescu, securitatea, the long line-ups for milk and cooking oil, tragic illegal abortions, cold apartments, and so on are no longer in Romania. Well Romanian film makers make it a there business of presenting Romania as a place that used to be terribly sad and still is supposedly terribly sad. Romanian film producers like topics taken from the old communist regime, or, more recently about tragic fires, orphans, drug addicts , people dying or suffering excruciating pain, failures of all kind etc... I have visited Romania and there is sadness but there is a lot of joy and a lot of achievements in all respects. People laugh, party, bring up happy children, appreciate art and education, good food, good wine and great desserts. People hike with pleasure in the Carpathians.

For some strange reasons, Romanian film makers want to present that country as a place that deserves just pity.
