The Coronavirus pandemic has resulted in television and cinema productions being shutdown.

Television companies have had to react quickly to show life under lockdown and give them new dramas to show.

ITV have come up with Isolation stories which are less than 15 minutes long. Sheridan Smith who is pregnant in real life plays Mel who we quickly learn is a single mother to be.

Mel participates in a group Zoom chat with her work colleagues and then makes a series of messages which are not all sent.

It shows Mel is lonely and getting desperate living all by herself. She has become pregnant by a man who has gone back to his wife and the baby is unwanted.

She gets a surprise call from a stranger who cheers her up before the phone call is cut short. It does lead to Mel having a more optimistic outlook but the viewer is left worried that the lady who phoned her might be living in an abusive relationship.

The drama has that look which a lot of shows including news programs currently have. The selfie video on a mobile phone look. I guess when that's over the Coronavirus pandemic is over.

Obviously ITV had to produce this while their cast and production crew are working remotely. There are a lot of actors who literally have video phoned in their performance. Smith does have segments of the performance on proper broadcast quality.
