"You've had an appalling shock, you're very upset and it's the middle of the night!"

Warning: Spoilers
So we get to hear the full story of Jim's past...and then we get to hear it again.Nicely acted by Roger Oakley as we get a glimpse of a man forced to make a life and death decision and left troubled for years as to what his motives were.Ultimately Steve and Ned forgive him and he's even left with the possibility of building a better relationship with his adoptive son's family.Which is, essentially, Neighbours' values at their best.Nicola's motives for getting Jim drunk are a little confusing. Is she making a misguided attempt to punish him for hurting Steve? Is she trying to loosen his tongue so he tells the truth?Or is she just causing trouble?Certainly, the way she stands apart from the happy farewell suggests things didn't go the way she was hoping.

Elsewhere, Karl and Susan show that being interfering parents doesn't stop when your daughter's in her late twenties(we'll ignore the contrived excuse needed for Libby and Ty to be in their front room). And Paul discovers that even more people hate him-no sooner has he got rid of one incompetent blackmailer then another one rings him up.
