The Challenge shows on the Food Network are sometimes quite compelling. This one is not. I watched each episode last season in the hope that there might be something worth seeing, either in new recipes, new cooking methods, interesting cooks, judges who were combative or entertaining, or that the Fieri guy might alter his personality and/or his appearance just a touch so as to approach maturity or mainstream culinary America.
Nothing has changed so far this season. The contestants seem to have been chosen from a dearth of applicants with recipes many of which I cannot imagine anyone wanting to put on their own tables. They cry, act out, and, worst of all, they cannot cook well under pressure. Who wants to spend an hour watching immature home cooks and an immature (and quite nervous) host face a milquetoast panel of judges? Big drama!?! Not! This Guy seems to have taken over the Food Network with at least three shows airing at the same time. Something is fishy and it isn't the food!
