Spirit of the Fox

This idea is good. Musics in the game is nice. It has a power that relieves people but processing failed. It would be nice if it was processed in a good way. Chapters designs are so complicated. Puzzles are mixed. It makes this work boring.

Absolutely loved in with every fibre of my being!

Warning: Spoilers
Rating a 7 as no game is perfect.

Playing this game I thoroughly enjoyed it, it wasn't too hard by all means and I loved the main character being a fox. By far my favourite animal + an exploration game which is by far my favourite. One of the most enjoyable video game I have ever played in my top 3. And that says something, so very well done.

All bias aside, the games physics worked out very nicely and as I expected, I was surprised when they even included the little details of the fur movement, the animations when sliding and jumping, which I appreciate a lot. A game company who can perfect the little details as well as the main details are very well equipped to make good games. I'm proud of that.

Then jumping, walking and running, all amazing, the special abilities, all amazing.

But... There was a few little points of criticism, nothing too much but as no2 is coming out soon, I thought I'd get this out here.

1. The game is mainly an indie based exploration / puzzle game, unfortunately the way the game starts and ends is completely different, not by storyline but what the game is labelled as. It's become's less of an exploration game to more puzzle leaning towards the last few chapters. This can take the fun exploration factor out of it, and make it more brainy. By no means take the puzzle out completely, but the enjoyment shifts from exploration and the slight puzzle to more focus and getting the puzzle correctly as it turns out to be detrimental later on in the game. Whether no2 is already complete in development, it would be lovely to see extra chapters, based on only exploration, and interactive features on that too. So have the fox be able to travel further distances and having focus on the atmosphere around with the fox, I think it will be beautiful. As we got the picture mode, that will fit perfectly. Imagine some good pictures you could get! :) Also along with storyline, and little cutscenes showing the storyline, if you intend on doing that. If not just the exploration will do. Coming from a nature lover and an explorer at heart, that would fulfill not just the perfect game in my heart, but many others.

2. Only other comment to make is the length of the game. It can take 3 hours and just under that to complete the game, fortunately it took me a week as I have commitments. At least on a fast paced gameplay, potential on 6-12 hours instead of 3? Stretch the average play time to even longer while including more chapters, story and exploration chapters. It's about the balance in these games, and it will do very well.

Either way, this game is absolutely amazing, I thank the team for making such a wonderful game and I cannot wait for number 2!

Frustrating

No sense of progress in levels and no way to save In level means good luck picking it up when you have an hour or two and making any progress. The puzzles are all variations on a theme that often requires repeated backtracking and relies heavily on jumping in a game where jumping is wonky. I loved the aesthetic and really wanted to see it through but one too many apparent dead ends in level 5 and it's just not worth it anymore.
