Though the ladies of Hindi film music-dom impressed this year, it most definitely was a year for the men! With a mix of strong, powerful vocals, energetic beats that made you want to move and the heartfelt renditions that made you cry and fall in love without even seeing the movie, let’s hear it for the boys! Check out the 10 we thought particularly hit all the right notes!
10. Shekhar Ravjiani
Part of the killer and hit music director duo Vishal-Shekhar that have given us many a favorite song, Shekhar Ravjiani also is a fabulous singer. We heard him along with Chinmayi Sripada on the classic and oh so good love song ‘Zehnaseeb’ from Hasee Toh Phasee. Then there was one of our absolute favorite songs of the year ‘Meherbaan’ (unplugged) from Bang Bang. It really does not get much better than Shekhar and...

Saturday’s Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa opened with all the choreographers of the contestants, dancing to the ABC song from Yaariyan. They were then joined by the contestants.
The audience were informed that the current top 9 contestants would soon become top 8 as it was time to announce who would be in this weeks face-off. Mallishka and Kiku were the chosen face-off contestants this week.
Kiku and Kruti were the first to perform. Their chosen dance style was Tandav and Krumping. As they had an act with a religious theme, their song reflected the same. Kiku was dressed as Raavan and Kruti as Lord Shiva. As always, Kiku’s scores were saved and would only be revealed after Mallishka had performed.
Mallishka and Diwakar were on stage next. Their chosen dance style was Samba/Freestyle and their chosen song was ‘Ooh La La’ from The Dirty Picture. It was then time for...

This week’s Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, started on a “short”, sad note as host Ranvir Shorey read out a humorous letter from host Drashti Dhami explaining why she has left the show. Ranvir even joked that he wished she hadn’t left him as he now has to do all the work himself! Of course, thankfully, Drashti has been replaced and it is by none other than Manish Paul who was one of the original hosts during the earlier seasons of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. All the judges and contestants welcomed him warmly, and the show was filled with his usual hilarious antics and natural flirty behaviour with the ladies!
This week’s theme of Jhalak was ‘Judges Demand’ and this meant that the judges had chosen the specific dance style and that each contestant was to perform. Only how they did it, would remain entirely their choice.

The second week of Jhalak Dikhala Jaa started off with a bang as Madhuri Dixit entered with a new international judge Maksim Chmerkovskiy from the Us dance reality show Dancing with the Stars. Maksim won this past season of the popular television show partnering Us Olympic Ice Dancing Gold Medalist Meryl Davis. This is the first time that Jhalak has had an international judge on the judging panel.
His first step? He danced with Madhuri to the song Chamak Challo from Ra One in Salsa style. It truly was a sizzling performance!
As always, the second week of the show, starts of the elimination process and this would be taking place on the Sunday episode.
First up to perform were Mouni & Punit Thakar who were safe from the eliminations. They danced on the song ‘Lahu Muh Lag Gaya’ from Ram Leela and their dance style was Rumba & Cuban Bolero – International Dance Form.
