Wake Her Up Before She Go-Go's Nuts
kgraovac14 November 2023
As the staff prepare to host a wedding (ANOTHER one??) Nancy dreams it's 1997 and she herself is about to be married. But to whom?.

The whole episode is basically a fantasy sequence that has Ginger as a Geisha girl, Jan as Governor of California, Dot as a brunette Marilyn Monroe (wearing the white dress from "The Seven Year Itch") and Amy as an overweight housewife.

These kinds of episodes can be extremely entertaining if done right, but this one doesn't compare to the offbeat episodes of THE GOLDEN GIRLS, like the one where Dorothy was in a love triangle with Sonny Bono and Lyle Waggoner - the latter of whom shows up here as "Marlon Brando," a joke that doesn't really land.

Totally Retro '80s Alert: The girls do a musical routine where Ginger sings lead on the Four Tops' 1966 song "Shake Me, Wake Me (When It's Over"). It's a good tune but the synth arrangement is terribly dated; when Nancy sings "Brazil" she is backed by three Chippendales dancers.
