Epic episode!
chrichtonsworld9 September 2008
When I found out that they were going to do a Terminator series I was horrified. The third Terminator movie was terrible and nowhere near as good as the previous movies. How on earth could you justify a TV show with almost the same premise as the third movie. The pilot episode was pretty good only did not do anything new. A couple of episodes following the pilot were slow and uninteresting. But then gradually they put in some developments that made the show more promising. Casting Brian Austin Green was a brilliant move since he really brought some depth to John's character and the show. Through him we finally get some answers about John's future. Now having seen the first episode of the second season there is almost no doubt in my mind that this show has improved. Who would have thought that "Sarah Chronicles" could have come so far especially after a somewhat uneven first season. This episode immediately starts of with the cliffhanger ending and gave it an outcome that I personally did not expect. This development surely will provide more thrilling moments in future. Combined with the addition of a new character gives this show the much needed edge. It has to be said that it seems that there is a higher budget. Which is the best thing that could happen for this show. "Sarah Chronicles" is improving each episode. I only hope that they can maintain this high standard.

Samson and Delilah was a nearly excellent start for the second season of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"
tavm18 September 2008
Warning: Spoilers
In a wonderful silent slo-mo sequence scored with a song by Garbage, we see Cameron wake up after the explosion in the van and, after we see Sarah and John take care of their kidnappers, Cameron sees them and as we cut to her point-of-view, the words she sees says, "MISSION: TERMINATE"! That was a great shock for me as John and his mom rush out and drive. There's another great sequence in the middle when, as Cameron is smashed between John's and Sarah's trucks, she unemotionally declares her love for John as he tries to take her chip out before succeeding. Also compelling were the scenes Charlie had with both that FBI agent and Derek Reese. And then there's Shirley Manson, lead singer of the beginning scene's song, playing Catherine Weaver who turns out to be a very formidable enemy indeed! If you know about the villain in T2, you'll surely know what Weaver is capable of! I wish the computer I watched this episode on had a louder volume. (the power in our house was off when this aired due to Hurricane Gustav) Other than that, this was a very enjoyable start for the second season of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles".

The best episode since the pilot
gridoon20249 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The pilot of "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" was great, though none of the subsequent episodes quite lived up to its standard. Hopefully this does not happen again with the second season of the show. In any case, this season opener is quite a ride. Having Cameron "go bad" was a genius idea: it takes the strongest pillar of safety for the Connors and turns it against them. There are at least three scenes that are among the best in the whole series so far: the scene where we see, from Cameron's own point of view, that her mission has changed to "John Connor: Terminate", the scene where John tries to remove her chip within 120 seconds before she wakes up, and the scene where he finally does get the chance to remove her chip but she pleads with him not to, even saying that she loves him. Which gets you thinking about the fine line between having emotions, and faking emotions so well that others may think you have them. The single weakest element of the first season - Sarah's voice-overs which just spelled out the theme of each episode - seem to have been removed, and the surprise at the end is a genuine jack-in-a-box. *** out of 4.

Excellent first season and opening episode of season 2
jhpaul8 September 2008
The acting of the principals is first rate. The dark humor as regards Cameron's character is well done. Lena Headley did a fine turn in 300 and is one of the best in TV for her role as Sarah Connor. The action is incredible but the discussions and dramatic tension between the characters in the interim scenes is revelatory and significant to the plot. The program is one hour long but it moves quickly and you feel the time flew by. The actor who plays the FBI agent is low key and intense. He emotes the feelings of a man coming to grips with a reality that is too hard to embrace at first but reacts in a believable way to the epiphany of the truths told by Sarah Connor.

Outstanding Season 2 Opener
cogency19 September 2008
While I enjoyed the rather abbreviated Season 1 immensely, I find that Season 2 opened with a bang (literally) and was both exciting and emotionally intense. There are some great scenes between the main characters that are heart wrenching. The action is relentless and the chemistry between the cast is up several notches. A new character is introduced in this episode. While I don't want to give anything away, suffice it to say you will think of the second Terminator film when you see this character in an awesome scene at the final act. Everything from the cinematography, directing, acting, story and special effects in one episode blows away the previous season in its entirety. If you already liked the show from Season 1's 8 episodes, I think you will like it even more with season 2.

Cameron reverts to type
Tweekums17 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Season two begins where season one finished; the Jeep Cameron was getting into has just exploded and two unsavoury looking gentlemen have entered the Connors' house; they are looking for something and will do what it takes to get it. While they are inside Cameron reboots and enters the house; it looks as if she is going to save the Connors once again but when she sees John it becomes obvious she has reverted to her original programming and has locked on to her primary target. Despite being injured John and Sarah flee, pursued by a heavily damaged Cameron. Given what has just happened it looks as if they will have to kill Cameron. We also learn where the Turk is now; it has been acquired by Catherine Weaver, a business woman working on something called Project Babylon. We don't get an explanation of what that is but given what is revealed in the final scene it is unlikely to be good.

Season two certainly started with a bang; this episode was packed with action from start to finish including; explosions, car crashes and the appearance of a 'liquid metal' terminator. Having Cameron revert to being a terminator programmed to kill John Connor was an interesting move and quite a surprise when I first watched the episode; it is a pity this was resolved so quickly though as it would have been a great cliff hanger if we'd been left wondering whether John would restart her or not. Summer Glau does a great job in the role; portraying Cameron as not quite human without looking too robotic. Shirley Manson makes an interesting addition to the cast as Catherine Weaver; I look forward to seeing how her Project Babylon affects the Connors in future episodes.

Fantastic!
julianselvage9 September 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't that surprised to hear that after the first season they were going to make another one.The opening pilot to the first season I didn't think was good enough to open the season with which is disappointing, because towards the end of the season things started to heat up and an interesting plot was easily found. However I think the writers/directors got a kick in the bum because "this" second season opener was just fantastic! there was certainly enough action to keep my mates and I glued to the screen the whole time, and the dialogue easily told you what was happening. As well as an action packed episode, the emergence of a familiar type of terminator seen in Terminator 2 at the end has easily made my decision to watch the next one next week, looking forward too it! 9/10...FANTASTIC!

I Think I'm Paranoid...
Xstal8 August 2022
It starts as last season should have ended, this episode was considerably more splendid, with betrayals and action, it has lots more traction, and a brand new Terminatrix has been blended.

Chip Damaged
Littleman9512 January 2021
A little bit absurd that no one saw and care about a girl with half of his face bleeding...

Anyway it was a quite good start. With some magic but it was good.

Disappointed
dneuland24 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So much of this episode is good -- but none of it involves the show's main characters, Sarah, John, or Cameron. Lots of great scenes with Derrick, Charley, and Ellison, and a fascinating introduction to Savannah Weaver. Too bad the bulk of the episode is dedicated to the destruction of all the character development Cameron had in the first season, reducing her to the same old Terminator-monster, for nothing more than a series of cheap action scenes. Even the climax of the episode is just a bunch of tired cliches. We know John is developing feelings for Cameron, and the slow, deliberate progression of that as her own progression to something more than a terminator builds is, to me, what the show does best. To see all that thrown back in John's face as nothing more than a punchline from Cameron as she "begs" for her life short-circuits all that, pardon the pun.

The best part of all of this is that it's entirely forgotten by the next episode.

Lena was terribly unconvincing... Plot had a HUGE hole in it.
luka3rd30 January 2013
Well, at times I used to look aside! I was ashame of cheap plotting and very bad acting! Especially of Lena Headley! Well, only of Lena... From the first episode I was wondering what is wrong with Lena! I thought for a moment that it would become fine as one or two episodes passes by, but alas. Her worried but unconvincing voice in narration in very close to failure but it's bearable, but acting becomes worse and worse... I do like her very much! Physically. Pretty head, you know. There is some nice acting in "300" and in Thrones. But the body, not so much. It is not a meter of personal physical taste or her sex appeal, it is simply that she is too tiny and not sporty built to be tough enough to beat anyone, at least any of the robots! It defeats convincing the audience that she is strong as she should be. Above all that, many of the pressure in heavy scenes of hard decisions, where she supposed to be the leader, she simply puts her lips to some sexy "mode" and - voilà! Enjoy the tension!

Then, finally in the first episode of second season, it is all confirmed! She is totally confused! I was looking off the screen in moments waiting scenes to pass so I wouldn't be too disappointed and quit watching the show at all! My God! She was completely out of character, well for the biggest part of episode. It was so obvious, so thin of acting, I could tell she was boring in some moments! Like "oh, will this shot be over soon..." Unbelievable!!!

Since Cameron, the tin girl, is similar in body, from sport perspective, I'll guess that it was just bad casting! And then it was too late to change actors. Actually, Cameron is much more convincing, at least is not so thin as Sarah...

I think I made it clear. No hard feelings, just Lena has the face to act tough woman, queen in "Game of Thrones", queen of Sparta, but... Queens DO NOT FIGHT! So the character is pretty unconvincing... what a pity.

And about the plot... well, for no reason, those monstrous machines, unworthy of any human trust, totally unpredictable... at least how Derek Reese describes them, suddenly falls for the stupid, childish: "Promise?" I mean, COME ON! Who were you trying to fool? You did not have better way of reprogramming her, like the chip or something, it was just enough to ask such an untrusted being to promise? You have ruined the show! Totally! Like you didn't want to lose any more time with that. Just "let's get over with it..." attitude. Well, I just hope I will have enough will to watch it to the end, but it become 3 stars, was 8 stars, become very disappointing, was among the best.
