Better Watch Screwed
hitesh-rohilla24 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
The movie was cool and Paresh and Johnny lever are the best out of all the characters in the movie! The movie is a copy of Screwed. DE DANA DAN has so many characters that it gets difficult to pinpoint or single out any one actor. Akshay and Katrina are completely misused. Paresh is fine with his loud voice. Katrina and Sameera don't have much to do. Amongst the actors, Johny Lever, Neha Dhupia, Manoj Joshi, Asrani, Vikram Gokhale and Archana Puransingh deserve special mention. DE DANA DAN is targeted to make to laugh nd it delivers it in abundance. You have to leave your brains behind to enjoy this Priyadarshan flick! But also watch Screwed to compare which one is better, "Priyadarshan" OR " Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski:

No strong story but still it's so engaging

Sub plot of the movie is so dominating that it makes you feel like you are watching two movies. Even after that movie is so much full of fun. There was a time I didn't stop laughing for an hour

Nice flick!

Warning: Spoilers
So guys here is the first review of De Dana Dan.

Spent 150 bucks for this one and must say was worth it. The movie didn't disappoint me at all. There are many funny moments in the movie.

The story is the same one. 2 guys fall in love with 2 rich gals but their father wants them to marry someone other than them. So they decide to get some money. Akshya works in Archana Puran Singh's house as a housemaid and also serves as the driver. to get some money they decide to kidnap the "Dog MOOLCHAND Ji". But everything goes wrong when the dog goes back to mistress.

They move to hotel pan pacific where there are other guests including sameera reddy in laws. a lot of confusion goes on.

Acting wise i was disappointed by paresh rawal. Akshya and Katrina looks good and even sameera reddy and suniel shetty have done a decent job.

So a must watch for all. After all the best this one is the best comedy of this year.

my rating - 6/10

Bang Bang Bang Laugh Riot!!!
AvinashPatalay14 February 2010
With the team joins hands back again, the expectations are nothing short of yet another "Hera Pheri". The team needed a desperate hit to redeem themselves from the recent spate of flops in everybody's kitty. Needless to say the pressure surmounts and result is "De Dana Dan".

De Dana Dan gives the opportunity to see all the Priyan's regulars under one roof. There is little something for everybody and to what extent the character is justified is a debate for another day.

The laugh-riot owing to comedy of errors bear uncanny resemblance to Priyan's earlier outing "Hungama". There are streaks of "One Two Three" (under-rated, IMO). The writer should be applauded for being able to weave the intricate complex mesh of sub-plots and integrate it into the main storyline. On the same note, the director deserves brownie points for being able to cross the deliverable milestone. No doubt there is breadth in terms of sub-plots, however the downside is lack of depth in it. By the time a character and the sub-plot sinks into the audience, the story moves on. And when the tributaries join in, the confusion starts to seep in.

In terms of performance the lead performers are do a fine job ie. Akki, Paresh, Suniel, Katrina in descending order of of screen time. Sameera Reddy hardly leaves an impression. The supporting cast as mentioned earlier are Priyan's regulars and seem under-utilised. But hey-ho, everybody seemed to have enjoyed the overseas holiday during the shoot. On that note, it seems basing the story in Malaysia was an overkill. Lets not forget "Hera Pheri" worked because of the simplicity which the audience were instantly able to connect.

Pritam's songs deserve a special mention, great foot-tapping numbers are justified adequately with their picturisation.

Finally Priyan could have come up with a better climax rather the water- shed.

A clumsy act of absurdities.
bobbysing6 December 2009
One simple question to start with……In the current scenario, are we always supposed to see a Bollywood Comedy leaving our thinking brains at home?......Really fed up with this phrase often used to praise mindless comedies, I was completely taken back by the treatment given by Priyadarshan to his latest script-less movie called "De Dana Dan". Once again taking his inspirations from the English flicks, "Screwed" (2000) "Blame It on The Bellboy" (1992) and "The Towering Inferno" (1974), the director delivers a completely over the top and loud movie which miserably fails to impress the viewers in any of its department.

With more than 20 characters in the script, played by all well known actors of the Industry, the project has too many things to deal with. It really remains a questionable decision that even after the presence of the famous "Hera Pheri" comic trio, what was the need of roping in almost everyone related to comedy genre in the industry ranging from the veterans Asrani & Shakti Kapoor to the currently famous Johny Lever & Rajpal Yadav. Priyadarshan may have successfully dealt with them all in few of his previous projects but this time he simply slips disastrously.

Storyline has never been the major highlight of a Priyadarshan project. But in "De Dana Dan", he very daringly treats the story requirement of a movie in the most careless manner. Starting with few good scenes moving around a Kidnapping plot, the movie starts going into various opposite directions with a desperate plea to make you laugh. Post interval it looks like the director and the whole unit somehow lost their original script in the transit and just went on with the shooting as per their outdoor schedule.

After an hour the movie has nothing related to a story and it just has all its characters confusingly following each other with mistaken identities. Collectively living in the same five star hotel, everyone keeps barging into unknown rooms trying to create some hilarious scenes for the viewers. And the most surprising part is that post intermission the biggest star of the movie, Akshay Kumar simply vanishes from the screen for more than half an hour. He gets locked in a closet and remains there for a good amount of time. But what was the use of locking your most sellable star like that.

"De Dana Dan" has loads of absurdities in its narration, which fail to convince even if you take them as a part of a brainless comedy flick. For instance, a full grown man (Akshay Kumar) has been kidnapped but the whole Indian community (in Singapore) and the entire media is searching for a kid instead, because that is the only photograph available of the kidnapped person. In the climax the top floor water reservoir of a more than 30 story hotel gets exploded due to a bomb. And that shockingly brings a major flood like situation in the entire multistory building with everything floating in the heavy water flow. In fact the silly watery sequence hilariously resembled the one recently seen in "Tum Mile".

Performance wise this is a perfect example of a film with the most numbers of stars, where not even one makes his presence felt in the end. For the first time ever, I found Paresh Rawal, hamming with his intentional Punjabi accent. The viewers are sure going to miss the cult Paresh Rawal act of his previous hit comedies. Akshay Kumar is not entirely there in the movie. He starts off with some good scenes with Archna Puran Singh, but later gets lost in the overcrowded star-cast. Not using him as per his much applauded comic timing is entirely the fault of his director. Suniel Shetty does his act with an unconcerned ease and he seems to be included only to complete the famous comedy trio.

Both Katrina Kaif & Sameera Reddy can count their major scenes on one hand. They only contribute in the film as its female lead and nothing else. In comparison, Neha Dhupia makes a better impact in her few moments on the screen. Archana Puran Singh shouts more and acts less. Aditi Gowariker once again proves that she is better model. Shakti Kapoor repeats his sex maniac act. Asrani, Tinnu Anand & Manoj Joshi are routine, but Chunkey Pandey, Rajpal Yadav and Johny Lever are simply wasted in their unimportant roles. Sharat Saxena & Vikram Ghokhle are miscast as they simply do not belong to the comedy genre.

Pritam's music is not outstanding as expected. But the RDB track "Paisa Paisa" is a major hit which also has its own history in the Punjabi Music Industry. The track was the opening song of the Debut Album of Manak-E released few years back, which had music by RDB and was also promoted well with a music video on the leading Punjabi channels. It was indeed quite thoughtful of both RDB and Akshay to use the song with the same singer in the promotional campaign of the movie. However as usual, all the songs are inserted in the script without any specific need. Background score by Salim-Suleman is energetic and Cinematography is fine as per the requirement of the subject but the film tends to go over length due to its bizarre climax.

On the whole, it's just another instance of better promotion and poor content. Few weeks before, I could understand the success of "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani" (though I personally rated it quite low) as it had a worth praising act by Ranbir Kapoor, good songs and some hilarious scenes with mass appeal, but if "De Dana Dan" goes on to become a big Hit then I really fear what kind of projects we are going to get in the near future.

And lastly one sincere request for the director, who gave us the cult "Hera Pheri"……..Please take a break and re-invent yourself on priority basis…!

Calling it a mess is like being too lenient
sashank_kini-130 November 2009
Wow, such a positive reaction from fans wasn't expected by me. Time for some serious bashing! Firstly, I went to see this flick only to cut gym session and oh boy was I wrong to do that! This movie is one of the worst and the most horrific I have ever seen in the sixteen short years of my life!

The whole movie is superficial and one-dimensional. Characters just enter and ext, without having much utility in the film. And on top of it, it was a comedy! I did not even smile or even give a forced laughter during the entire course of the film. Here are the reasons why:

1) Confusing plot: Plot, oh sorry, I meant mess. Rubbish. Disaster. Catastrophe. Doomsday. Worst story ever. Flat script. Lots of chases. No coherent story. Songs are inserted anywhere ( "Paisa Paisa" songs had such a disastrous and silly timing)

2) Length: In this movie, one hour felt like four. Plus a confusing plot. Plus songs. Plus loud, obnoxious acting. Equals misery.

3) Dreadful acting: None will be spared here. Paresh Raxal was loud literally so were all the other characters. Sameera Reddy and Kaif were useless and unnecessary. Akshay Kumar, I think, wants his career to diminish completely. Everyone talks so loud that I had to cover my ears on certain occasions. Especially Archana Puran Singh. Maybe they were competing in "Who will be the loudest in order to burst the ear-drums of the audience?" contest or something.

4) Everything: Since I cannot think of anything that was good in the film, I can't neglect this point.

No guesses on this, a straight 1 out of 10 or probably 20 from me.

This film is for smart people, and it is under-rated.
Hunky Stud3 June 2012
i am surprised that this film has such a low rating. I am rating it a 9.

It has lots of famous Indian actors in it, and everyone is very funny in it.

The reason why it has a low rating, it is probably because every character in it is connected to others one way or another. So if you don't pay attention to who they are, what they did, you will quickly get lost. If you can't understand who they are, then obviously you will lost interest very quickly.

that is why i say in order to appreciate this comedy, you have to be an intelligent person. it is not for common people who have short attention span.

Of course, what happened in the film is improbable in real life. It is just a fun entertaining comedy, you will laugh for sure.

Not that Great......Has it's funny moments but......
ayushd13 December 2009
Alright when i first went to see this movie it was a full house in the theatre and i could not get a ticket and instead i watched kurbaan but since de dana dan had a full house it increased my expectations for the movie and then when i went to see it the next week..........Disappointment, seriously i was expecting this to be a quality movie after reading the reviews but what happened.

It isn't a Kambakht Ishq but still it could be close because it gets a little stupid and did i mention at one point i was not even able to follow the story line because it got so confusing but then the reason it isn't a kambakht ishq is because first of all it isn't entirely stupid and it does have it's funny moments and overall it really is not a must watch but if you have nothing else to do i guess go watch it.

A Nutshell Review: De Dana Dan
DICK STEEL27 November 2009
I got to admit I wasn't quite plugged into the fact that Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif were in Singapore earlier this year to film this movie, and it wasn't until after they had left did I come to learn of their presence, and a new Bollywood film after Krrish that had decided to set itself on our island. Having watched Saint Jack again earlier and gone on the Jack of Hearts Mystery Bus Tour, my interest was piqued more on how landscapes have changed, and wondered if what had been captured here in this film, would still survive the test of time some decades down the road.

So yes, Singapore itself was the character I was looking out for, and the film managed to feature Clarke and Boat Quays of today, with those shown in Saint Jack still vividly fresh in my mind. The trailer for this film had highlighted many venues in which this film was shot at, from Sentosa to Fusionopolis, but alas this was only in the music video of one of the songs shown early on. Otherwise, since the Pan Pacific was listed in the credits, the bulk of the film actually took place in and around the hotel, and thus was shot within or in any generic soundstage.

Storywise, both leads Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif were only representatives of a larger ensemble cast, and sad to say though that they disappear as well for a significant portion of the film, with Akshay in particular when the limelight had to be shared, and his character was written to be stuck in a cupboard of a location unknown to him. The gist of it, at least in the first act, tells of two men Nitin (Akshay Kumar) and Ram (Suneil Shetty) who are both drowned by their debts and stuck in jobs with no prospects. Their respective girlfriends Anjani (Katrina Kaif) and Manpreet (Sameera Reddy) happen to be from wealthy backgrounds, and their parents see it as material benefit should they be wedding other well to do folks.

Both men now become desperate in not wanting to lose their lady love, and crack up the most insane of plots involving kidnapping, which soon spiralled out of control to involve an Indian ambassador, their girlfriends parents, a sneaky hotel employee, a bumbling hit-man, a mafia Don, a corrupt practices police inspector (though his rank is only that of sergeant), a mistress, and plenty of mistaken identities to make everyone beat around the bush in a convoluted manner, leaving you the audience having to open your eyes and ears to link everyone's relationship, motivation and intentions, both real, perceived and deliberately under deceit.

As for the comedic element, personally it's fairly hit and miss, though I wonder if there's anything that could be lost in translation since the audience were rip-roaring laughing at the slightest of sight gags, much credited to Akshay Kumar's comedic timing especially in the first act which shows his being exploited under his female employer played by Archana Puran Singh. What impressed more though was the series of special effects that had the Pan Pacific Hotel facing quite the disaster, and while some shots did look quite artificial, I have to admit it was quite the blast (pardon the pun) to see how landmarks here in Singapore get their 5 minutes of fame in being nearly obliterated in a motion picture. But this scene too fell prey to the largest bugbear of the movie, and that's where scenes were dragged out longer than its welcome.

While I had looked forward to some great comedy, and having to bear witness to yet another Bollywood film shot here, the end result was somewhat less than satisfactory.

De Dana Dan has it's moments for sure...
namashi_116 January 2010
Priyadarshan's multi-starrer comedy 'De Dana Dan' is a film that you'll remember, not today, but in years to come. Here's way: Zany entertainers like these never get it right at the ticket window or with the film pundits during it's release... But, over the years, it gains a cult following.

'De Dana Dan' is non-stop non-sense with everything going-over-broad. Be it the length, the screaming, the complications, the confusion. 'De Dana Dan' is probably the best example for 'Escapist Cinema', a town where the word logic seems alien. Priyadarshan is a veteran, but his cinema {talking about his super-hits} have always been comedies... so whenever you tune in any hit-flick of this National-Award Winner please leave your brains safely at home.

Coming to Performances: There are almost 25-26 characters in the film, in which each has a character to portray. Surprisingly, all excel in their respective parts. But the ones who stand out are: Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Archana Puran Singh, Neha Dhupia, Shakti Kapoor, Manoj Joshi, Rajpal Yadav & Vikram Gokhale.

'De Dana Dan' is funny, but loud, lengthy & non-sense. Watch this, but don't forget to lock your brains at home.

De Dana Dan is boring
sumanbarthakursmailbox19 December 2009
They couldn't have come up with a more inappropriate title for the new Akshay Kumar starrer than De Dana Dan, a term usually used to signify something quick. The thing is, Priyadarshan's latest comedy is anything but quick. At two hours and 40 minutes, it's a laboriously long, patience-testing exercise in idiocy about some 20-odd characters stuck in a five-star hotel where mistaken identities and misunderstandings result in loud arguments, comic-book action and crude humor. Akshay Kumar plays down-on-his-luck servant boy Nitin Bankar, who can't take any more humiliation from his tyrant boss, and finally conspires with his buddy to kidnap her beloved pooch and demand a ransom. The dog, as it turns out, is smarter than the men. He escapes from their hands, but the police believe that Nitin has been kidnapped. Don't ask how this situation leads to the one in the hotel, but it does. There's a wedding happening, a murder attempted, a prostitute being solicited, and lots of money changing hands. Eventually, it ends with a bomb exploding in the water tank and a flood - think Titanic here – gutting the entire hotel. In the tradition of many recent low-brow comedies from the same director, De Dana Dan is cheerfully dumb and doesn't aspire for anything more than cheap laughs. The film's first half is dreadfully dull, and the second only marginally better. Rajpal Yadav as a corrupt waiter, and Johnny Lever as a bumbling hit-man are the two bright spots in this annoying ensemble that includes talented actors like Paresh Rawal, Vikram Gokhale and Archana Puran Singh who pretty much spend the entire film yelling at the top of their lungs. Neha Dhupia scores with a winning turn as the hot-headed hooker who just wants to get her money and leave. The film's leading man, Akshay Kumar, sportingly goes along with the silliness, but he's done all of this many times before. In the film's second half, he's locked up in a closet for about 40 minutes, leaving the rest of the cast to carry on the show. How you wish you could hide somewhere too, or slip into a coma even – anything really to avoid watching the rest of this drivel. Over the years one has lowered one's expectations considerably when going in to watch a Priyadarshan comedy.De Dana Dan is no different.

De Dana Dan - laugh when the crowd laughs, or be left out
mokshjuneja27 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Akshay Kumar if he starts making any more faces then, he can well be named the Indian Jim Carrey, specially the Masked version. Suniel Shetty and Sameera Reddy are a perfect match, well built, rounded, grounded, have the accent, both come from down South; why didn't someone think of them earlier. On Katrina, i believe movies are being re-scripted and the dialogues are re-written and probably even the locations are more foreign or foreigner dominated once this lady signs on (also observed in Ajab Prem Ki..).

The story like any typical Priyadarshan movie the comedy ones (Hungama, Hulchul, Hera Pheri) where you know due to a lot of confusion there will be a lot of commotion because of lack of communication between all the characters. OK, this is the same Priyadarshan who has also made the Kala Pani and other award winning movies. But then coming back to his comedy version, its starts with two characters Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty and then the girlfriends are introduced Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy respectively. Then parents and some bosses, killers, dancers, hookers, waiters, and the list will continue... are brought into the picture. Then there is lot of money at stake, there is a kidnapping, and then all are put together all under one roof the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore. 1000 times they should the name of the Hotel where they were staying, how can one forget? I am glad that there are so many actors in the movie, so Akshay doesn't dominate the screen so much. The other Johnny Lever who tries to play a hit-man; Rajpal Yadav who is a corrupt waiter; Manoj Joshi - father of the bride; Neha Dhupia hot headed hooker, who cares only about the money - these actors are quiet commendable. Paresh Rawal is wasted in the movie.

Once in the movie, sometimes you feel it becomes a drag; sometimes you feel too many songs. This one for sure you feel that you have not understood a joke even though the whole crowd in the theatre is laughing, don't despair their are intellectual capabilities do not match with yours.

This is not a spoiler but in the climax scene you have digitally (badly) done; water rushing across all the hallways in the hotel. Very similar to the Titanic one, don't even bother thinking how it happened. In the process, the audience is left confused yet again> Will the actors drown in them, will swim they in it, will they have funny slides made out of it, or what? cause the whole place is filled with water rushing and very bad extras reacting scared, but you can see through them that there is no water in front of them.

I can only say confused, go watch it, don't have any expectations, laugh when the crowd laughs, or you will left out on the joke.

The Throbbing In Your Head that is 'De Dana Dan'
sniperswagat6 December 2009
Priyadarshan reunites the 'Herapheri' team in De Dana Dan, hoping to make an impact after his past few films failed to find significant successes. De Dana Dan's story is the regular tale of confusion that Priyan has churned out in the past as well.

Unlucky Nitin (Akshay Kumar) and Ram (Suneil Shetty) are low on cash and survive on the largess's of their girlfriends Anjali (Katrina Kaif) and Manpreet (Sameera Reddy) who claim to be with them till the end of time, but chicken out when it comes to marrying the guys. To get money, the duo decides to kidnap the dog of Archana Puran Singh (Akshay's boss). Through a twist of fate, Archana thinks Akshay's been kidnapped. With the regular sub-plots, the story culminates in a deluge of water in a hotel with the entire cast trapped in it.

The story is only funny in small parts, and does not leave an impact. One gets the feeling that if the multitude of sub-plots was lesser, it could probably have been funnier. As It stands, the movie is at least half an hour too long and the audience will suffer from boredom. Priyadarshan fails to lift the hackneyed script with his direction, resorting to his age old tactics to try and make the audience laugh. But those practices can only get you so far. This is a disappointing effort from the veteran. He seriously needs to bring some freshness into his comedies.

Akshay Kumar as Nitin is one of the most sincere acts in this movie, but is hampered by two aspects: lack of screen time and stock expressions. Akshay keeps making the silly faces that worked earlier, but look stale now. Suneil Shetty tries hard and puts in a decent performance. Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy have nothing more to do than be eye candy. Paresh Rawal is not funny here. There is a lack of scope for the veteran in this movie. Due to the movie having a huge number of actors, no one gets enough time to leave an impact. Rajpal Yadav, Asrani and Mohan Joshi are all wasted.

Pritam's score disappoints, with only the Usher-inspired 'Paisa' and the melodious 'U and I' leaving an impact. A minimalistic background score helps by not interrupting the flow of the movie. The locales of Singapore are pictured well and Singapore looks beautiful. The choreography and setting of 'Paisa' are pretty innovative.

Final Verdict: I wish the editor had stepped in and cut out at least half an hour of this bloated film. Watching it will not tell you what a comedy is. Give it a miss.

Just OK movie
modistreet28 May 2010
The movie is funny but not in the same league as Hera Pheri. I have seen Priyadarshan's same movie made in Malayalam and found that one funnier. This movie was good in spurts, but overall it was a bit bland. The main reason could be because I felt that not much thought went into the the dialogues; so some of the scenes looked part of an improvisation exercise. Therefore it lacked the necessary punch. The initial song was excellent and so was Neha Dhupia's "Haughty Naughty" number. The trio Akshay, Paresh & Suneil did their usual thing. Suneil was a bit funnier this time. While Katrina, Sameera & Chunky didn't have much to do; they were there just for the ambiance.

I found the scenes leading up to the climax good and on a slightly bigger scale than the original movie. The movie could have had a slightly better ending. To rap it up I would say even though it wasn't a rip roaring laugh riot, it is still a good time pass movie.

A Dead Comedy followed by an overlong climax
ganeshkss977 April 2011
De Dana Dan is a dead comedy.

All the actors just shout, shout and shout in the movie which instead of a comedy makes it look like a tragedy.

Priyadarshan's direction is bad.The climax is weak The music is weak Dialogs are very good.

Performance-De Dana Dan has India's best comedians, but there are only few who stand out. They are in this order-Johnny Lever,Vikram Gokhale and Asrani .Akshay Kumar too is good.Suniel Shetty is okay.Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy are forgettable.Neha Dhupia is fine.Chunky Pandey is also good.Archana Puran Singh,Paresh Rawal,Rajpal Yadav,Shakti Kapoor,Sharat Saxena,Tinnu Anand & Manoj Joshi shout.

Overall De Dana Dan is boring.

Laughter is good for you
saba21158 December 2009
I am not going to write a critical review of this movie simply because it doesn't need one. I am just going to say that it kept me and a hall full of at least 200 people laughing non-stop. Everything in the movie made us laugh. I had left all my critical faculties at home when I went to watch this movie. It's pure fun. AK is great-- I have always loved him especially in comedies-- and all the other characters were great too. The timing was great and all the twists and turns kept us rolling on the floor. I certainly did not go there looking for some dark comedy or a serious movie. In any case, what credibility does the Indian audience have, if they could reject a well made film like Korbaan? If you haven't watched De Dana Dan yet, I say, buy a ticket and go for the next show. You will forget all your troubles and sleep well that night.

Dreadful
salianmoviereview20 June 2011
De Dana Dan directed by Priyadarshan is awful!

This Comedy movie turns out to be a horror one.Seriously! You actually tend to cry not because of the jokes but because you have wasted your time and money on this movie.

The only thing that made me smile in this movie was Johnny Lever. He simply is mind-blowing!

Talking about the story, was there supposed to be a story? Screenplay is penned very bad.

The music is below average Performances-Johnny Lever is the star of the show!Akshay Kumar is okay.Suniel Shetty is average,Katrina Kaif is fair.Sameera Reddy is bad. Asrani is plain.Chunky Pandey is decent.Paresh Rawal,Vikram Gokhale,Rajpal Yadav,Aditi Govitrikar,Shakti Kapoor,Neha Dhupia,Tinnu Anand,Manoj Joshi,Sharat Saxena and Archana Puran Singh ham.

On the whole,De Dana Dan is a letdown.

Damn funny! Go watch it!
rajandey1 December 2009
De Dana Dan is one of the finest comedies in recent times, we all know Priyadarshan is an expert on the field of comedy, this movie belongs to his top movies next to Hera Pheri, Hungama and Garam Masala.

The movie started off on a hilarious note, continued to the climax in a hilarious way, and ended in a perfect typical Priyadarshan way! I always liked Sunil Shetty and know he is very underrated, Akshay Kumar and Sunil were both outstanding, and delivered rib-tickling performances.

The supporting cast is excellent, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Johnny Lever, Shakti Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Sharat Saxena.. everyone! Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy didn't really have much scope, or funny scenes..

Plusses : Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, REALLY funny moments and a few nice songs.

Minus : The songs pop out of nowhere, but we are kind of used to that with Priyadarshan aren't we?

Go for it, you won't be disappointed!

It starts from an Empty handed Akshay till He lifts a suitcase containing 10 million dollars in the End!!

I just watched this Movie.... A movie which is full of totally Unnatural and Silly Jokes..!! Its a bundle of Extreme coincidences! Which occur all through the movie, From the beginning to the end..

biggest goof is that in the end, just a blast in the Tank creates a Big TORRENTIAL FLOOD!! It reminded me of the movie Titanic!! In the same way the water gushes like floods to fill the whole hotel! which seemed to have some 30 to 40 floors..!! May be tank contained gallons and gallons of water.

Even the ending was not satisfactory, the movie comes to an abrupt end.. It leaves all the characters in the movie totally confused and unclarified even in the end..

however overall, not a total bad movie, its was not a total waste of time,it was an entertaining movie, its has good comedy and it can make a good evening..

I'm giving it rating 6 out of 10...

Priyadarshan's last comedy film....
silvan-desouza18 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Priyadarshan started off the trend of Situational comedies starting of with Hera Pheri, Hungama but slowly the trend got repetitive De Dana Dan is perhaps the last comedy film by him, hopefully. The film has such a huge cast, we can get lost, it has Akshay, Sunil, Katrina, Sameera, Vikram Gokhale, Manoj Joshi, Shakti Kapoor, Johny Lever, Rajpal Yadav.etc Priyadarshan always known as the guy who is the best in aking confusion come alive on screen goes overboard this time and the film gets irritating, we have similar stock characters, the comedy dies down and gets boring For some reason Akshay is locked in a cupboard for half the film, The climax shows a flood in the hotel(shot in Mumbai) and the confusion is not solved.

Direction by Priyadarshan is so-so Music by Pritam is good, Baamulaiza is a good song though Sunil's steps look odd, rest are okay

Amongst the huge cast Akshay Kumar is as usual in his role, lending a few laughs, Suneil Shetty too is decent in his part, Katrina annoys with a dubbed voice and adds nothing, Sameera Reddy is okay, Tinnu Anand is loud, ManoJ Joshi screams throughout, Vikram GOkhale is okay, Sharat Saxena is as usual, Johny Lever is funny, Rajpal is as usual, Shakti Kapoor is as usual rest are okay

Below Par....Yet Again!
anks-bhalla12 December 2009
Film by film, the stories and the comedies of Priyadarshan are getting complicated but still looks similar. Especially, in the endings when all the actors in the movie end up being at one place and it becomes all harakiri.

The level of comedy movies has gone drastically down this year. All the Best was well below par and so is this one, probably a little better than All The Best. I just can't seem to comprehend after seeing some of the comments made by the users that they laughed for 2 hours 45 minutes. If someone can laugh on Sunil Shetty's and Sameera Reddy's scenes, then they seem to be brothers with Navjot Singh Sidhu.

The movie actually had a very good script and a good screen play but it lacked good comedy in most of the scenes. It was getting to predictable. After a long time, Johnny Lever has delivered to his potential. Akshay Kumar was good but not amazing and moreover he was kept out of the movie for almost an hour because of the script. Paresh Rawal had a good role but then again, monotonous.

All in All, its a 5-6/10 movie...
