For some people, timing is everything, especially regarding life planning. The problem with meticulous plans is no one can account for the unknown, and a wrench in the works can throw the entire strategy out of whack. In Let’s Have Kids!, Emma and Phoebe decide to get pregnant simultaneously to navigate motherhood together. However, their friendship becomes tested when only one conceives, and the other is left on the sidelines. Karen Gillan and Zoë Chao lead Let’s Have Kids! as two best friends on opposite ends of a life-changing era.
Let’s Have Kids! is Black Adam and Due Date writer Adam Sztykiel’s directorial debut. Sam Richardson, Max Greenfield, K.J. Apa, Ed Begley Jr., and Mary Steenburgen co-star in the laugh-out-loud comedy. Sztykiel co-wrote the script with Elli Knaus, a producer on the project alongside Becky Sloviter.

Everyone is falling apart in “Stress Positions,” the Sundance premiere now opening in U.S. theaters from Neon on April 19.
The anxiety-inducing comedy directed by Theda Hammel, which she co-wrote with Faheem Ali, centers on a cluster of Brooklyn-dwelling New Yorkers spiraling during the first Covid summer of 2020 and also reeling from their own hang-ups, breakdowns, and break-ups. There’s his Moroccan nephew Bahlul (Qaher Harhash), a beautiful model badly injured with a broken leg and convalescing at said brownstone, with nowhere else to go and identity questions of his own. Then there’s Terry’s best friend, Karla (also played by director Hammel), a trans massage therapist in a shitty relationship with a writer (Amy Zimmer), reaping...

In “We Strangers,” Rayelle (Kirby) confesses to her mother (Tina Lifford) that she doesn’t have dreams. Perhaps she doesn’t have time for them, or else she’s simply too exhausted to hang onto anything else in her head after spending her days as a cleaning lady, monitoring her every move so as not to become any part of the mess she picks up for other people. Still, this isn’t to say she can’t have fantasies in Anu Valia’s absorbing character study, except like everything else her life, they’re not for herself when her observational skills lead some to think she’s psychic.

Jaleel White has been named as host of The Flip Side, a brand-new syndicated game show from CBS that is scheduled to debut this fall. In the show, two teams of players attempt to determine the sentiments of two distinct groups regarding the same issue. Teams make their selections from multiple-choice answers, and the correct choice secures the pot. “I have had fun being a celebrity contestant on numerous game shows, but I’ve always really wanted to be the host, giving people money and making their day,” White said in a statement. “When I first heard this concept, I immediately wanted to be the ringleader of this entertaining, funny game show where the only requirement is being in tune with human nature.” Besides his dual role in Family Matters as Steve Urkel and Stefan Urquelle, White’s recent projects encompass Netflix‘s Hustle, CBS’ Me, Myself and I, and Apple TV+‘s The Afterparty.

Casting turnover is the name of the game when it comes to the Law & Order franchise. Through 23 seasons of the flagship series (and not even to mention the many spinoffs), Law & Order has cycled through dozens of casting combinations in filling out both the “law” and “order” halves of its ensemble.
When Law & Order returned for season 21 in 2022 after a lengthy hiatus, it looked like it had a solid detective duo in place with Anthony Anderson’s Kevin Bernard and Jeffrey Donovan’s Frank Cosgrove. Now, just two years later both actors are gone. Anderson departed after season 21 and Donovan after season 22.
Law & Order season 23 pairs Mehcad Brooks’ Jalen Shaw (who replaced Anderson) with newbie Vincent Riley, played by recognizable face Reid Scott. If you’re wondering who Reid Scott is and what makes him a good fit for this crime drama, don’t worry – we’ve got the answers.

"Where were you between midnight and 8Am?" Hulu has revealed the official trailer for another murder mystery comedy series titled Death and Other Details, which will begin streaming this month. This 10-episode series is set on a cruise ship sailing around the Mediterranean, borrowing from Agatha Christie, of course. After years of turning in memorable comedic performances, Sam Richardson is angling to nab his first career Emmy Award. He has the chance to do it this year with his nomination for Best Comedy Guest Actor for playing Ghanaian billionaire Edwin Akufo on the Apple TV hit, “Ted Lasso.”
Richardson’s nominated episode is “International Break.” Sam (Toheeb Jimoh) goes to his restaurant to find it empty, despite having a full slate of reservations for the night. Akufo reveals himself and shows that his grudge against Sam is still alive through constant belittling and insults. He tells Sam that he still plans on destroying his life by opening a better Nigerian restaurant nearby and that he kept Sam off the Nigerian national team by writing a substantial check to the country’s government in exchange for blacklisting Sam.

"Comparison is the thief of joy," I read once on a cross-stitch, and it's probably true, but when it comes to our favorite TV shows, comparison is also very fun. Which of the year's biggest shows were worth the hype? What hidden gems slipped between the streaming cracks? And – crucially for a medium that's defined by its ability to tell bite-sized, serialized stories – which show aired the best episode of 2023?
There is, of course, no objective answer to this question, but it's worth exploring. In 2023, TV worked overtime to get our attention, packing episodes with A-list guest stars, yanking forcefully on viewers' heartstrings, and pushing past its own established boundaries with sharp and captivating filmmaking choices. Not everything TV tried this year worked, but a surprising amount of it did.
A trio of incredible episodes top this year's list, hours that stand out among their contemporaries and embolden their respective genres.

Apple is not moving forward with another season of “Central Park,” Variety has confirmed.
Previously, series star Josh Gad, who also serves as EP and writer, shared the news over the weekend on social media, telling fans “Sadly, it’s done” when asked about the show’s return.
The animated comedy follows “Owen Tillerman and his family live an unconventional life in New York’s bustling Central Park, which Owen manages; now, they’ll have to fend off a wealthy hotel heiress who wants to turn the park into condos,” per the series description.
Season 3, which was released on Sept. 9, picked up with Kristen Bell in a new role on the show. Bitsy continued her pursuit to buy the park as Owen took on a new promotional campaign to make more people fall in love with it. Meanwhile, Paige wound up busier than ever after landing her first book deal.

Ayo Edebiri, one of the breakout stars from the first season of the FX/Hulu hit “The Bear,” is switching from supporting comedy actress Emmy consideration to lead for Season 2 that streamed in June on Hulu. While Edebiri, who portrays the young sous chef Sydney Adamu on the show, earned an Emmy nomination for the show’s first season and could still win it when the trophies are handed out in January, she is even more prominent in the show in many of the second season episodes. So the change to lead makes sense.

‘Shadow And Bone’, ‘Glamorous’ & ‘Agent Elvis’ Among 5 Series Canceled By Netflix Amid Strike Impact
Exclusive: Netflix will not be going forward with more seasons of live-action series Shadow and Bone and Glamorous and adult animated comedies Agent Elvis, Farzar and Captain Fall.
The decision was made a week after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike and a month and a half after the end of the WGA work stoppage as networks and platforms continue to evaluate the impact from the strike-related seven-month production shutdown.
While there had been a slew of series cancellations and un-renewals by linear networks and streamers during and immediately after the strikes, Netflix had largely refrained from making cancellation decisions during the past 6½ months while announcing a number of renewals, including One Piece (S2), Ginny & Georgia (S3 and S4); The Lincoln Lawyer (S3), Xo, Kitty (S2), Heartstopper (S2 and S3), The Night Agent (S2 picked up on the eve of the WGA strike), The Diplomat (S2), Fubar (S2), Sweet Magnolias...

Chapter One of James Gunn's new cinematic DC Comics universe is titled "Gods and Monsters." This phrase goes back to a line of dialogue from Dr. Septimus Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger) in James Whale's "Bride of Frankenstein." How fitting then that "Gods and Monsters" kicks off with a Frankenstein-inspired animated TV series: "Creature Commandos."
The premise is simple: A World War II comic in the vein of Marvel's "Sergeant Fury and his Howling Commandos" but with Universal Horror monsters. The original line-up was Lieutenant Matthew Shrieve (a normal human team leader), Sergeant Vincent Velcoro (a vampire), Private Lucky Taylor (a Frankenstein-ian homunculus), Private Warren Griffith (a werewolf), and team medic Dr. Myrra Rhodes (a Medusa-esque Gorgon).
The team was created by legendary writer J.M. DeMatteis and artist Pat Broderick; the Creature Commandos debuted in 1980's "Weird War Tales" #93. Now, an updated version of the team will make it...

It’s lights out on The Afterparty. Apple TV+ has canceled the murder-mystery comedy after two seasons. Apple nixed the series in part because of a post-strike reevaluation of its streaming series, according to Deadline sources. The Afterparty debuted in January 2022, created by Chris Miller and executive-produced by Phil Lord as part of the pair’s five-year overall deal with Apple TV+. Season 1 told the story of a murder at a high school reunion through the perspectives of different guests, with each episode boasting its own visual style based on popular film genres. That first season starred Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, Zoë Chao, Ben Schwartz, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer, Jamie Demetriou, and Dave Franco. Season 2 premiered this July, with Haddish, Richardson, and Chao reprising their roles in a tale about a murder at a wedding. John Cho, Paul Walter Hauser, Ken Jeong, Anna Konkle, Poppy Liu, Elizabeth Perkins, Jack Whitehall,...

The party's over.
Apple TV+ has canceled The Afterparty after two seasons, Deadline reports.
The decision comes weeks after the conclusion of The Afterparty Season 2.
Thankfully, each season of the series is designed to be self-contained, meaning fans were not left hanging over a cliff about what would have happened next.
Resolution is necessary for a show of The Afterparty's caliber, which begins its seasons with a murder before having Tiffany Haddish's Detective Danner investigating the pool of suspects.
The investigation is infused with humor, red herrings, and everything you'd expect from a series that doesn't want to tell you the killer's identity until the season finale.
It's unclear how well the show performed on Apple TV+ because the streaming service keeps those viewership statistics under lock and key.
The first season had a considerable amount of buzz, but The Afterparty Season 2 seemed to appear out of nowhere...
