One Man's Trash...
tmccull525 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
... is usually another man's trash, too. Such is the case with "Forest Primeval". Once I saw that this was a Polonia Brothers production, I knew that I was in for a crap-fest extraordinare. From the horrid casting and acting, to the equally bad production and special effects, this had the patented Polonia stench all over it. I thought that "Dinosaur Activity" was god-awful, but with "Forest Primeval", the Polonia Boys lend credence to something that Albert Einstein once suggested: man's intelligence has it's limits, but his stupidity is boundless.

From the doofus shown hunting in the opening scene, to his ditzy, whiny girlfriend waiting for him in his truck, to the doctor who takes a patient's stats, not their vitals, this movie blows chunks. I do have to admit that the doofus Hunter's tricked out 4WD truck was pretty nice.

Nobody, from the hunter, to his girlfriend, to the hiker in the woods, manages to catch sight of the eight foot, bright red monster stalking them until it is practically on top of them. I saw at least one familiar face, some geek with a 1980s peroxide blonde hairdo that I've seen in other Polonia Brothers productions. I'd look up his name, but it isn't worth the two minutes that it would take. He must owe them money, or msybe they're blackmailing him with photographs of him doing indecent things with livestock. For whatever reason, he keeps popping up in leading roles in these cinematic turds.

If you're of a mind to laugh at utter stupidity, horrible acting, and worse special effects, this movie is for you. I turned it off after 10 minutes.

Haunted forest indie with a few ghoulish FX
Leofwine_draca21 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
FOREST PRIMEVAL is a straight-to-video indie horror flick about a haunted forest populated by evil demons and restless spirits. Unwary travellers are killed off while some hikers and a psychic must contend with the evil manifest within the trees. This is generally a mindless enterprise with lots of wandering, some of those interminable found footage-style interviews, and a few fun and ghoulish special effects.

Tempe entertainment does it again
nogodnomasters22 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The movie opens with a man in the woods on Skull Mountain hunting "stock footage" deer. Suddenly a freak earthquake happens and a demon appears from the ground.

Skull Mountain got its name because Native Americans would boil the heads of their victims and place the skulls on sticks around the mountain. Not likely, but that is what the movie claims. Meanwhile Camille, who is psychic, is having visions of the demon killing various people on the mountain. She goes to investigate. Also on the mountain are two guys with a metal detector looking for treasure...finding a metal knife used by Native Americans. (When did they have an Iron Age?) This all ties together in an exciting climax you won't want to miss! No one will be allowed in the theater during the last 10 heart pounding minutes. Don't reveal the twisted bizarre ending to your friends! ;)

The hand is what we see most of the creature, who only attacks during the day because filming at night is more difficult. The dialogue was extremely bad, resorting to fart humor. 71 minutes long because they knew we wouldn't last 90. Tempe has made worse movies...Believe it or Not!

No sex. No nudity.

Generally fun enough for a cheesy low-budget creature feature
kannibalcorpsegrinder22 October 2022
Troubled by strange dreams and visions, a woman heads out into the woods to find the source of the strange visions where she encounters a pair of hunters looking for treasure that has instead unleashed a monstrous creature on the community and must find a way to stop its blood-soaked rampage.

This one proved to be quite an enjoyable enough effort. Among the better features here is the interesting and intriguing premise that provides the film with a great setup. The idea featuring the survivor retelling the events of an earlier expedition that ended in tragedy offers up nothing new but still provides the kind of baseline for the introduction of the creatures' backstory being involved in the folklore of the area. As well, her suffering from the visions caused by the unforeseen accident propelling her to tie everything together to murders by a strange beast gives this a solid series of plotlines to work with. This all provides the film with some fun setups involving the creature attacking. Relying on a slew of slasher-style sequences showing the creatures' point-of-view coming through the wilderness on the victim unsuspectingly, there are some rather enjoyable attacks here including the opening ambush on the hikers, the ambush on the wandering hiker in the woods, and the chase through the woods taking the various stragglers out that it stumbles across. Coming together with a rather fun finale featuring the true purpose of the knife, the use of a fun puppet monster, and a generally cheesy feeling, there's quite a lot to like about the film. There aren't too many issues here but it does have some flaws. The main issue here is the overall obvious low-budget here that comes through in pretty easy-to-spot manners. That comes about mainly in the effects work here, from the rather silly gore scenes that look like paint being applied to the woods, the flimsy oversized hand prop for the creature that's quite goofy, and the appearance of the zombie which looks like a Halloween mask. Given the overall look and production value featured here, that becomes even more obvious, and when mixed with the unexplained nature of the zombies' purpose all serve to bring this one down.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

What an amazing film. Palonia comes through again! I felt like a fat kid at a candy store while watching this cinematic masterpiece. Kenny "Chocolate" VanSant was stellar as always. Steve Torpy crushed it, although I felt they killed his character off a little too quickly. There were a couple of new players in this one, but they did a pretty decent job. I was a little disappointed to not see D. Donahue, but I will live.....as long as I don't take a walk in the woods.............
