Quotes

John Jones : Where'd you get this list?
Clark Kent : I memorized it off Chloe's desk.
John Jones : I didn't realize that photographic memory was among of your abilities.
Clark Kent : It's more like speed-reading, but let's not split hairs.
John Jones : She couldn't just *give* you a copy?
Clark Kent : Chloe and I don't always see eye to eye on this one.
John Jones : [refers to Lois] Well, what about your mouthy cohort? She hasn't poked her nose into this one, either.
Clark Kent : She's on assignment, which is code for "Monster Truck Rally in Lubbock."
John Jones : And I assume your emerald ally and his super friends are still on hiatus, which leaves you.
Clark Kent : Solo. I get it.
-
John Jones : You can't save everyone, Clark.
Clark Kent : The moment I believe that is when I stop trying.
-
Clark Kent : How'd you make detective so quickly?
John Jones : We all have our sources. Mine happen to be far-reaching. And now that you're working in Metropolis and using your contacts at the Daily Planet to help more people, I wanted to be close by. In case you needed me.
Clark Kent : What I needed was to get here sooner. I should have been able to save all these people.
John Jones : According to the mysterious calls we got at the station tonight, I'm guessing you saved your share.
-
John Jones : You're so fixated on being a hero, you're not paying attention to who might be watching.
Clark Kent : Is this your idea of a pep talk?
John Jones : It's not *my* identity that's at risk. Every day, I have to run faster and faster interference on these mysterious Good Samaritan reports.
Clark Kent : Well, that means I'm doing my job. Just have to make sure no one sees my face.
John Jones : Well, you can't be sure of that. Unless you plan to put on a mask.
Clark Kent : You're joking, right?
John Jones : You are not in Smallville any more, Clark. Metropolis has millions of people walking the streets, every one of them watching for a miracle to change their lives, to give them hope. You *are* that miracle. And it's just a matter of time before someone discovers that.
