International quality work on a small scale(8* by debojyoti)
debojyotichakraborty-241163 September 2020
Solo performances are usually seen in plays,But I first saw the solo performance of the bengali movie. There are not many good movies about the psychology of women in India.I hope this movie will reduce that imperfection at least a little bit.👍

Swastika acted the best of her life. From the beginning to the end it seemed like a very familiar women next door to us,entered the character very nicely. Her songs really gave another dimension to the film.👍🙏👏👌

The story line has become very ordinary but it has become extraordinary somewhere.Cinematography and direction have taken cinema to another level.International quality work on a small scale👌👏👍

Don't blindly believe the narrator
suprabhattacharya11 October 2021
Tasher Ghawr explores a loveless and an abusing married life amidst the lock-down through narration of Swastika's character of a seemingly timid lady. If you have seen many films where the narrator is also the main character, you surely know that the narration is not impartial or even in some aspects it's not entirely true. The writing intentionally indicates some minute indiscrepancies in her narration.

Swastika Mukherjee's performance elevates the film higher.

The concept is good but could have been made a little better!!
mwrwazed12 September 2020
My life is my choice. However, this is not a suitable phrase for any girl. Especially when the girl is married. Because her world is already formed and she is dependent on another new man. But when the man of that world starts ignoring him or just using him as a consumer. Then his new world slowly began to shrink. Anger is born from this negligence. And anger arouses Ire. It begins to germinate deep in the mind. This anger drives her to take revenge. As a result, it is impossible to predict what will happen next!

It was released in just 48 minutes. I had a similar idea. I also wanted to make a short film. Those are things of the past. I still don't know if I can make this short film. However, there was only one actor in the movie. I mean, it was a solo film starring Swastika Mukherjee. I like her a lot. Since it was a solo performance, it was much more important to hold the screen for a long time.

In this case, Swastika has to be applauded. She was damn good in the role of middle-class married woman Sujata. Her acting was very lively and natural. For a while, I thought maybe this was her biopic. If not, how did she get so immersed in this character? I really appreciate her.

The story is simple and very much ordinary. There is not much to say about the story. But this story has become extraordinary. The cinematography was even better. And thanks to the director too. Although I rated this film 6 out of 10.

Because some negative things have caught my eye. Not exactly negative. It's just my point of view. There were some scenes that were annoying for the audience. It seems like a failed attempt to pull off the story. And there were also some opportunities to make the story more interesting, powerful, and surreal. But in the end, I liked the movie very much. And all this credit goes to Swastika Mukherjee for her brilliant performance.

Everyone's choice may not be the same. So everyone should give utmost importance to his own choice to express his personality and his own meditative ideas. Have a good time watching good movies.

It's tragric.
tilakchandra-780213 September 2020
The movie has a strange and eerie feel to it. Swastika Mukherjee's performance is superb. The direction and cinematography along with the background score is of top notch. I've seen Sudipto Roy's earlier works, very compelling. Ayan Sil's cinematography is beautiful. The actor who plays the husband, Judhajit, was irritating to the core. I mean the character was irritating. I think that was the job. No doubt Sujata a decided to do what she did to the ass-hole. It was satisfying. The production design is good too. It was different from usual storytelling . Would like to see more such work.

Spellbinding Swastika!
SoumikBanerjee199630 May 2021
Being a Social Satire, "Tasher Ghawr" innately depicts Domestic Violence, scads of Physical Abuse, and a lone woman's desperate cry for help! A tragic yet stupefying delineation that reflects upon bitter verities of marital life!

They say, "Marriages Are Made in Heaven"; well, Reality at times beg to differ!

"The more that we choose not to talk about domestic violence, the more we shy away from the issue, the more we lose." - Russell Wilson

The narrative addresses Sujata; an Introvert by nature, who prefers to be unobtrusive and concealed in her private space. She finds comfort in taking due care of the household, prepping different cuisines, watering plants; you know the ordinary stuff. An amiable lady, all she ever wanted is a loving husband and a little family of her own.

But fortune has never been kind to her.

Consecutive miscarriages, Husband's illicit affair, unceasing abuses; all being directed towards Sujata, causing her harrowing agony and extreme distress. Behind her deceptive demeanor, one could clearly see that she's on the brink of a nervous breakdown.

Speaking of Performances; Swastika Mukherjee as Sujata is remarkable, to say the very least. Her immaculate charm is simply spellbinding! By breaking the fourth wall, inadvertently forming a deep connection that can't be expressed through mere words!

Cinematography and the Score played a pivotal role. While the precise framing and the authoritative shots brought a sense of serenity and cognizance; the songs just soothe your mind. A soulful composition that tugs at your heartstrings.

It's one of those priceless pieces of art that sticks in your memory. Securing a permanent place in your conscience! An articulately bestowed drama, that illustrates a housewife's anguished state of mind afflicted with apathy & negligence! Making a statement on behalf of millions of women's unheard confessions.

Nice concept and thought. However, the director did not do justice with the storyline. But again great acting by Swastika.

Who are rating this movie
sanskarabsent25 May 2021
This is an offbeat movie. The concept and the metaphorical nature of the main character are really praiseworthy; her witty personality, alongside her brilliant performance, is breathtaking. Most of the people who have watched this movie will probably say that there's only one character; otherwise, if you look closely, you will see the various characters present playing their part in advancing the story. Despite being confined to home, this movie feels shockingly fast; the pacing was really incredible. The cinematography was really, really calm and made me believe more in the mysterious nature of the surrounding. It doesn't look like a cheap web series. The muted colors and lack of contrast matches well. Camera placement and movement were also not noticeable (which is a good thing, we don't want camera movements to draw attention to themselves). The songs and the snow matched with the tone.

Though I have some nitpicks, which are really very minute, I am still very sure you would not have watched something this week created in a while.
