Lip Syncing is ok?
danman-2311 October 2020
Now all of a sudden you just have an artist come on SNL and It's ok to lip sync and just awkwardly move around the stage. Horrible performance. Worst part of the episode.

It gets a ten just for the debate sketch alone
AlsExGal9 October 2020
Alec Baldwin as Trump, as good as he is, is bested by Jim Carrey as Joe Biden. Carrey just disappears into the part. If Biden wins will Carrey be expected to do this impersonation on a regular basis like Baldwin has been expected to do Trump impersonations for the last four years? And then Mamala shows up. Very good sketch although mild compared to the real thing.

Too Much of a "Not-So-Good- Thing"
mherrity10 October 2020
I thought the SNL debate with Jim Carrey and Alec Baldwin was funny for the frist 3 minutes, By 5 minutes I was waiting for it to end. At 8 minutes it was truly tiresome. At 12 minutes people were screaming at their TVs. At 13 minutes I decided I never have to watch NBC on saturdays again.

Very weak
rskolek4 October 2020
Incredibly weak, especially as a season opener. Not enough Cecily or Kate. Chloe and Aidy were great. But as a whole, really disappointing. And for the love of god, stop doing political stuff, it is rarely if ever funny.

Fantastic episode

Warning: Spoilers
There was so many fantastic things about this episode. I'm not going to judge the whole season by one episode. This episode could be so great because Chris Rock is a fantastic comedian and SNL alum, but either way it was hilarious. While the debate sketch can't compete to the comedy of the real one, it was a great take. There was a very powerful message after the musical performance of Megan Thee Stallion. I will say that the best sketch was the name one, but how can you not be funny saying "Mike Litt".

Overall is was a very well put together and acted episode and it got many laughs from me. Like most episodes there were a few meh sketches, but it was mostly funny. I really hope that they continue with amazing episodes.

Pretty bad
MartyisGreat4 October 2020
Trevor Noah can pull off more laughs and satire in a 5 min video than a whole episode of SNL.

I hadn't watched SNL in years but thought I tune in around the hype that Jim Carrey will be on and its after the debate. Other than Jim's funny Joe Biden impression, the dialogue and jokes were weak. The rest of the episode was so bad I just kept skipping forward.

Chris Rock monologue was empty like they just pulled him off the street and asked him to say something random. It was stupid.

Weekend update seemed so fake and forced, take a stand on a joke, stop acting like 18 year olds.

We're back , live baby !
theknownames12 December 2021
Pandemic made me look forward this season extra ! I was wondering how it would look and how the cast might interact ( we were still finding out footing with covid) who would host and will they be rusty? I got my first hit of normalcy in months just seeing everyone onstage! SNl takes the pulse of our nation and it's comedy remains so diverse there is something for everyone. I will never forget this season , as a matter of fact snl shows have marked many times in my life ,from watching my dad do the long Tut , being a drunken teen safely making it home to it , being overseas and trying to access it live, watching it holding my new baby in a darkened hospital room ..... We start with Chris Rock hosting this season , a true entertainer and a great choice! I look forward to weekend update and appreciate the elevated chemistry and jokes with Jost and Che . There is so much more to this show than skits. Musical guest Jack White ( who of course when I finally met him on the street I asked ' are you Jack Black? Knowing full well what I meant.. but I was a flutter, he gave me hug - he wears the softest suits -and be fair , he wearing in all black ) and the musician perform live, no lip-syncing allowed. Are there even live shows on television anymore? Is there a cast that takes more risks then this ? This show has been going since before I was born. I have watched cast members branch out , move on and come back. SNL isn't always live so it's special when it is, particularly at a time like this .

Terrible Episode
jrippinger8 October 2020
I was really looking forward to SNL. Imagine my disappointment when there was not one laugh the entire evening. The opening a debate sketch was completely wthout humor. Chris Rock's monologue boring heard and it just got worse from there. It's beyond me how anyone could find anything on redeeming about about this episode. Hopefully the rest of the season will get better.

The Trump and Biden impressions are good - just not funny. Weekend update is even dull.

One good bit only
itaylor-506655 October 2020
Have loved this show since 1975. Big fan. But lately, it has been failing. Poor skits and the musical groups usually just stink. This episode had a great beginning, with the takeoff on the debate and Chris Rock's monologue. After that, utter boredom. One contributing factor is that many of the actors are poor articulators Can't understand whatt they are saying.
