You get what you don't pay for
jungelboel20 April 2021
This is not a terrible movie. It has a good arch, you get to follow the decline of the relationship and mental health of the main character. It has some decent scares midway through the movie and the home video type of filming is rather unsettling. The issue is poor acting and a pretty bad script. The lines are forced and unnatural which might explain the acting. Jesse LeNoir does a decent job as the boyfriend Julian. Seriously if you want a Russian janitor, get a Russian to do it as that was the most horrid fake accent I have heard in a long time. Expect a chill watch or watch something else but don't expect a good horror flick or great acting on a low budget.

Absolutely boring
bernadette-2274025 April 2021
If you are used to watching horror or thriller movies. This one is going to be very boring to watch. It did have story but a lot things did not seem in place and some things just felt dragged.

You should go
nogodnomasters20 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Olivia (Ashley Park) is a Korean-America Vlogger who has started a modeling career. She moves into an apparently haunted apartment with her boyfriend Julian (Jesse LeNoir ). Everything is hand filmed and rather poorly to give you the effect that people can never hold their phones steady.

The film is boring for about an hour and then when things do happen it becomes jerky blurred and unwatchable.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Agonizingly bad! Actress has potential.
rhett-weathers12 June 2021
This is a really bad, super-low budget "B" horror film, based around an up and coming fashion model. There are almost no scenes of her from head to toe, or modeling. Ashley is a truly stunning actress but headshots aren't enough. She does an extremely short scene on the beach in LA and does NO bikini shots!!! This film needes some actual photography to keep the audience interested. If you are going with a beautiful actress, playing a fashion model, doing photoshoots, and you fail to show the actress/model actually doing photoshoots and modeling, you have already lost the film! The movie is too bad, agonizing, without the actress carrying more of the film with full-body photoshoots and photography, showcasing her full potential and beauty.

Funny and boring
nup-322 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It is kind of funny and boring. You may watch it while you are practicing something else so don't need to pay full attention.

It is amazing how the ghosts can use technologies and cameras, good for them :D

My recommendation: don't waste your time.

Fine, better than many like it
ekwetherington21 June 2021
The first bit of this movie is blog footage and is really uninteresting. Once we get to the apartment, the movie picks up and has some solid spooky moments and the lead actress has some chops. The plot arc is your standard fare, serviceable, but unspectacular.

Stay does rely heavily on jump scares, but they are handled better than many movies like this.

Overall, a decent, low budget, Paranormal Activity knock off.

Jump Scare Alert
adrianchavo15 April 2021
It's always these girls with the long black hair!!! You know it's gonna be a freak show when you see these Japanese style characters in the Ring movies, Grudge movies and now this! I give the Stay movie a 6 in some areas, but the jump scares are a 10. Overall, it gets an 8.

Annabelle meets Paranormal Activity plus a mannequin
jaydenfosterfreeze8 April 2021
Don't mess with mannequins, old dolls, or anything real messed up that "comes with the building." Even though you can smell this plot a mile away, they at least do it a little differently here. This movie is lowest of the low budgets, but the sound is clean and the actors are pretty good. It's not as scary as the poster but it has a real good one near the end that got me.

Strong Ending!
briansandoval-4151119 April 2021
This is an unusual indie horror movie. It uses a reality TV meets YouTube style to tell the story of a fashion model in NYC. It's a small budget effort, but it has some good ideas and a lot of witty exchanges between characters. I was intrigued by the possibility of a dark fate for the the young couple...and this movie really goes nuts at the end! One thing you can say about this indie film is that it It covers a lot of emotional ground. The nice optimistic beginning is just a distant memory by the end. For the $10 they had to spend on this, I was very entertained. Most importantly... Scary ending!

A Paranormal Project Runway
AllieP_90877 April 2021
This movie is somewhat in the same category as Paranormal Activity and other ghostly/demonic found footage fare. The setup is different, as STAY focuses on a fashion model living in NYC. It's obvious that this is a small budget movie, but it still does a very nice job of being likable, sometimes funny, and it manages to get really, really dark by the end. The characters are also more enjoyable than you sometimes find with indie horror. You can take a chance on this movie because it's fun to see how far the characters fall (and it's a long way)! If you are a hardcore horror fan who likes gore... this is not your thing. This movie actually made me jump several times and it freaked my dogs out! I like paranormal movies, and I like low-tech style horror, so I was entertained.

Not really a horror
mikelevian8 April 2021
Had some pretty good scares even though it's not really a horror movie. Poster looks straight horror, but it's more reality TV. Didn't hate it. Wife enjoyed it more.

Small movie has scary ending
jesskaplan-930017 April 2021
This is not a big budget studio film, but it's still pretty scary if you can get onboard with the more fashion based beginning. I would call this movie a variation on the found footage genre using YouTube style vlogs to deliver the story. Everything is centered around "Olivia" who moves to NYC to be a fashion model for a company like Victoria's Secret. Just as things start going well she moves into a big apartment filled with all kinds of bad juju. The main characters are a little different than expected ( I like the Julian/BF character) and sometimes this movie seems a little more like a low-budget Black Swan than Paranormal Activity. The ending is actually scary and I felt like it was worth the time I spent watching Olivia prance around to get to that solid horror ending. This movie has a split personality and I guess that's ok in a movie about losing your soul. Not a bad movie for the budget.

Scary in an odd way.
briannabelasco24 April 2021
This movie falls into the ultra indie horror category. This type of shoestring budget movie can either succeed despite its limitations, or be completely unwatchable. I give this film credit for going against the cliche of the old scary house with endless dark rooms. Other than the grainy surveillance footage in the opening minutes, the first half of the movie is bright, optimistic and upbeat. Even the "bad apartment" seems pristine and filled with light... at least at first. Everything about this movie goes from light to dark in an extreme way. The pacing here is unusual for indie horror and it makes the scary parts a bit more scary. You don't expect the jumps to get you but they still do. So this film succeeds (on a B-movie level) by entertaining and scaring despite it's lower production value. This type of paranormal horror really tries to make something scary out of nothing and it mostly manages to do it. If you like found footage or movies like Annabelle, you might appreciate this one a little more.

Loved it!
cdesantis-729538 April 2021
I am a sucker for found footage-like horror films. It is a slow build to the horror but it does not disappoint. The characters are likeable and that apartment had very creepy vibes. Something about a barely furnished apartment with a mannequin struck the right note.

I may just be tired but...
jmwalkerauthor29 October 2022
Okay so I didn't actually mind this. It's more like an indie type film but it had some pretty decent jump scare moments. I did jump during the first 2 minutes and that's always what I look for in a horror movie. The acting was subpar but I've seen worse. Far far worse. Some of it was pretty predictable but if you're bored one night and want some entertainment with some pretty decent jumpy scenes, I suggest watching this one. It definitely doesn't hurt to check it out. Would I watch it again though? Probably not but I'm glad I found it and decided to give it a shot. I do kind of wish the girl that became possessed made some creepy sounds or something. But for an indie movie that's quite short, it wasn't too bad.

Small movie with some scares!
josephtualo21 April 2021
While the structure is nothing new, the idea of a fashion model in a found footage movie seems fresh. The performances are quite good despite sometimes feeling too tightly scripted. The end could be a little longer and the beginning a little shorter...it's overall pretty entertaining for an ultra indie title. I recommend sticking around for the end because the movie actually shows it's teeth and gets into full paranormal horror mode. This is a good movie if you are into paranormal shows, investigations and possession films. Supernatural films are my specialty.

Or should I go(?)
kosmasp1 July 2022
No (musical) pun intended - although there would be something missing anyway ("should I" would be the words missing). But I think most people would agree that the answer is easy ... to say the least.

That being said, the movie starts off quite good. And has a lot of creepy moments after that. While I am not particularly a fan of found footage, for certain scenes it did work quite well. Of course there is a lot of things that have to ... well let's call them coincidence.

Still it is what it is and if you take this with a grain of salt ... it can work. I may have been a bit too lenient with my voting again of course.

Paranormal movie all dressed up!
soniamoreno-6235121 April 2021
Some people will like this movie and some will be impatient with the NYC fashion setup. I personally liked the unusual setup on this non- studio horror movie. Typically, these films are all shot in a house or in the woods, but this one starts off with a quick cut montage to upbeat music. This is a smart choice because eventually the main characters go through literal hell in their big empty apartment. Imagine a tv show like Model Squad mixed into Paranormal Activity with a splash of Blair Witch Project. The difference is that this has more of a YouTube "influencer" vibe than a found footage vibe. I liked it and I can't complain about a free paranormal movie on Prime.

Honestly Not Bad At All, A Decent Watch
afoteyannum4 September 2023
So on a whim I decided to watch this. It came up on my feed and I was taking a break from editing footage, so I watched it.

Not bad!

It's the story of a YouTuber fashion model influencer that moves into a nice apartment that harbors a pretty messed up secret....

I love how bright, cheery, and high key it starts out. Very positive and nice and all that. But then the last act is, while not all that scary, VERY dark in terms of both story narrative and look.

Speaking of looks, this looks low budget AF. Like, much more low budget than your average FF horror flick. In fact, I kinda hate how it looks, but that's probably the high-quality anamorphic lens loving cinema snob in me LMAO

This ain't winning any awards, but it is a fun watch. The lead actor is absolutely GORGEOUS, and she does a great job in the role.

6/10.

Supernatural, not a slasher.
amyrigler21 April 2021
We watched this movie with another couple. Both women really enjoyed it, both men didn't want to call it a "horror" movie. Funny how it was one of the guys that let out a little scream during the best jump scare! If you are looking for an 80s style slasher movie, this is a bad choice. I'm into haunted investigation shows on Discovery Plus and so a movie about a fashion model that moves into an apartment with an old mannequin is right up my alley. The main takeaway is that this is a small movie with a lot of good jumps. There are no major stars or special effects, but the last 10 minutes will make you very uneasy and nervous. A fun watch if you have the right expectations.
