'm feeling a little more refreshed, moving on from last weeks episode, and I'm surprised how decent this episode came out. At some points, the episode was bland, and a little stale. The animation is good, but it feels like we seen it thousands of time before. The story is what makes this episode way better then the last one. It had Grandpa accused of a crime, and Kent decides to do a podcast about it. It, was fun seeing how the story moved forwards knowing if Grandpa was really guilty, and at one point, he was convinced he was guilty. It was also nice seeing Grandpa getting back into his love life. This episode can get a little stale, but the story makes up for it, and the last episode, kind of.

Warning: Spoilers
Being someone who is a fan of the golden era of The Simpsons, I've been saddened by the decline of such a fine series and I'm kind of forcing myself to play fair and be open minded about the later seasons. Podcast News was superb an is one of the best of 2020 in a time when the world was enduring the pandemic.
The sly take on Serial and murder podcasts generally was reminiscent of classic Simpsons. I don't know, maybe Only Murders in the Building was inspired by Podcast News. Good to see a focus on another minor character, this time news anchor Kent Brockman. Maybe the later episodes aren't all bad after all.

A lackluster episode from a usually great writer

The Simpsons episode Podcast News, written by David X. Cohen, was a bit of a letdown for me. While Cohen has written some fantastic episodes in the past, this one falls a bit flat. I'm not a fan of the modern episodes that rely too heavily on technology and current jobs, and this one is guilty of that. Additionally, there is a certain blandness to the script that I also noticed in classic episodes like The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show. While that episode had its moments of warmth, it felt a bit lackluster compared to others, and the same can be said for Podcast News. Overall, it's not a terrible episode, but it's not one of Cohen's best.
