More rattlers!
BandSAboutMovies28 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
45 years after Rattlers, those same snakes are still slithering around the California desert, ready to bite anyone they get close to all over again.

Don't worry if you never saw the Harry Novak-produced original. Enough scenes from it are replayed here that you'll know the story. It's simple - the flashbacks are shot on film and look beat up and the modern-looking digital footage is the story from today.

Director Dustin Ferguson has a regular cast that he turns to in film after film and many of them show up here, like Mel Novak as Commissioner Lewis, Brinke Stevens (yes, that Brinke Stevens!) as Rebecca, the always fabulous Dawna Lee Heising as Lindsay, Jennifer Nangle (Malvolia herself!) as Sally, Shawn C. Phillips, Julie Anne Prescott, Peter Stickles and more.

Writers Josh Price and Lee Turner have done a nice job of reminding audiences of the original film - or filling in the blanks if they haven't seen it - while moving things forward.

If anything, I wish that the film relied less on the original film and that the ending didn't feel so rushed. But that's fine - Ferguson seems to be learning with each film and I'm always interested in seeing anything that he makes when it crosses my path.

Trash

The best part of this film is the 1976 version. Cinematography is terrible, sound trashed in numerous spots, the writing is sub par. There was no quality control while making this film.... None!!! It's clear the actors tried, but the appear rushed and a terrible script to work with. This is just the latest in a line of films that Dustin Ferguson has destroyed. He obviously doesn't care about the quality at all. He should be ashamed.

It Shakes , Rattles , & Rolls with Exciting Serpentine Fright & Fear !

Dustin's " Rattlers 2 " is Surely the case where the sequel surpasses the original ! The Story is set 45 years after Man first encountered these rather Repulsive Reptiles ; & they're even more aggressive & savage today !

Mr. Ferguson shines a light on Lee's Tale of Terror with great camera-work , sound , & special effects ! A Fabulous Cast is assembled ; & each & every actor fits their role Perfectly !

Legendary Actor Mel Novak seems to have traded in his Amazing Martial Arts & Adventure Roles for portraying menacing & unscrupulous politicians & business-men ; & here , as 'Commissioner Lewis' , he sets a new standard for cut-throat operatives !

Some of the Most Talented , Attractive , Diligent Actresses working Today adorn this Cast . Dawna Lee Heising plays 'Lindsay' , the mother of Tom Lee , played by Shawn C. Phillips . Iconic Brinke Stevens , as 'Rebecca' , takes an interrupted bath . Julie Anne Prescott , as 'Jessica' , has a love-making session disturbed ; Jennifer Nangle sets my heart aflutter as the celebrant 'Sally' !

Beautiful Mercedes Peterson , with Her flowing locks , plays the Heroic 'Dr. Kaye' , Lovely Tatiana Larrea is 'Melissa' , Horror Staple Dawn DuVurger is the HardHat 'Dawn' , Geovonna Casanova is 'Sam' , & Allie Perez is 'Ally' ! Peter Stickles is 'Morris' , Pat Kusnadi is 'Pete' , "Knife" Sotelo is 'Marcus' , Joshua Moomey is 'Adam' , Eric Larsen is 'Mike' , & Ronnie Angel's here too .

The Local Sheriff's Department is well represented by multi-talented Erik Anthony Russo & D. T. Carney as 'Sheriff Wilson' ; the always sensational Thom Michael Mulligan is 'Bridger' , the work site foreman !

I Strongly urge You to buy the DVD ! There's Plenty of Extras , Including Trailers , Up & Coming Attractions , & The Grand Gentleman of Gore & Horror , Lee Turner , with a Peak into " AFTER HOURS CINEMA " ; & His Beautiful proteges & Horror Hostess Pamela Sutch & Monica Hayes are here as well !

" RATTLERS 2 " is all you'll ever need for a Terror-Laden Night of Fun ! Look for it ToDay !!!!

A highly enjoyable follow-up to the original
kannibalcorpsegrinder10 January 2021
Following a rash of strange deaths, the sheriff of a small-town finds the connection between the attacks and rumored snake attacks in the same town decades earlier and must bring together a crew from the area to save the citizens from the now-deadly snakes on the loose.

There was quite a lot to like with this one. One of the best features here is the generally impressive build-up that connects the two films. As the first attacks on the hiker and camping couple manage to instigate memories of the older attacks, there's a pretty enjoyable feel that comes off here as the events are taken seriously with the location connection being crucial to determining the issue. While it is downplayed, the fact that it's not outright dismissed is a solid addition which makes for a nice time furthering the connection between the two. That also leads to a solid and fun series of snake attacks. With the chilling snake-vision shots showing it stalking the campers in the desert, the swarm actively grabbing and pulling in a second victim closer to their nest and a fantastic recreation of a bathtub attack from the original offer up a nice balance of suspenseful snake antics alongside the occasional cheesy effects-work. The big attack on the fireworks celebration is generally goofy fun and the logical repeat of the same plan to stop them is pretty nicely integrated and pulled off, which all combined managed to give this a lot to like about it. There aren't a whole lot of flaws here. The main issue is a seemingly random manner of how this gets connected back to the original as it jumps the gun on implying a connection. The first victim, admitted to being the first time in decades, is enough by itself to call in the same events as before which is somewhat rushed in the context of the film. As well, this one does have a sudden and abrupt ending that can come out of nowhere that leaves a bit of a jarring impression that comes forth, but overall these aren't truly detrimental at all being the only flaws.

Rated Unrated/R: Violence and Language.
