A date has been set for longtime “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak’s final show. TheWrap has confirmed that it will air on Friday, June 7, which will be the Season 41 finale.
Sajak has hosted some version of the syndicated game show since 1981; the show itself launched in 1975, but he took over the daytime version in 1981 and has hosted the nighttime version since 1983. He taped his final episode hosting on Friday. He announced in June 2023 that he was planning to step down as host.
“Well, the time has come,” Sajak wrote in a statement posted to X (formerly Twitter) when first breaking the news: “I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all.”
Sajak will stay on as consultant for three additional years,...

Patton Oswalt has been tapped to host the format, which tests the nation’s intelligence, based on a scientific survey, and Fox has taken the second window in an interesting and unusual partnership between the two companies. Deadline previously revealed Amazon was adapting the format last year.
It marks the game show hosting debut for The Goldbergs and A.P. Bio actor Oswalt, who has previously appeared as a contestant on a number of quizzers including To Tell The Truth and Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.
Oswalt has been circling the format for a while; Deadline understands that he was lined up as the host last year but the actors strike pushed this back.

Sony Pictures Television vet Suzanne Prete, who has driven the studio’s game show division since its launch in 2022, has been upped to president. The exec will continue to report to Sony Pictures TV chairman Ravi Ahuja, who announced the news Thursday in a memo to staffers.
“We established our dedicated game show group just two years ago, and under Suzanne’s leadership, our game show division has excelled beyond even our lofty expectations,” Ahuja said in the note, pointing particularly to Prete’s stewardship of both “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune.”
“With her keen understanding of the incredible value these series hold, Suzanne was instrumental in securing a landmark five-year renewal deal with ABC to take the shows through the 2027-2028 season. She is also a driving force in expanding these syndicated powerhouses into multi-faceted franchises, including primetime specials such as ‘Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,’ ‘Celebrity Jeopardy!’ and ‘Jeopardy! Comedian Matt Rogers won big on the most recent episode of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, but he faced backlash from fans after an old clip resurfaced where he once slammed the show and its host, Pat Sajak. The clip, from Rogers’ iHeart Radio podcast Las Culturistas, went viral following the New York native’s impressive win on last Wednesday’s (December 13) episode of Wheel. Rogers bagged a massive $260,650 for charity in a decisive victory against Paula Abdul and comedian/actor Lil Rel Howery. In the clip, Rogers tells his co-host, Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live), that Wheel of Fortune is a “stupid,” “boring” show with “no skill involved.” The rant was from a 2021 episode and part of the podcast’s regular “I Don’t Think So, Honey” segment, where the hosts and their guests are given 60 seconds to sound off about frustrating cultural phenomenons. I Don’T Think So Honey: Wheel of Fortune!
