The opening scene of a popular restaurant in Los Angeles that serves these delicious-looking potatoes with your breakfast and is open 24/7 got me hooked on this show right away. Man, did those look good and it was interesting to learn the eatery doesn't have a lock on its front door because it has been open all/night since 1924! Everybody loves potatoes, no matter form they're in! You doubt that? Pass up some french fries, tater tots or potato chips......it ain't easy.
Some of the other memorable scenes in here including the incredible basement of potatoes at Ore Ida; the big tractors which run on GPS to perfectly harvest a big crop in a potato farm in Pennsylvania, the conversion of potatoes to vodka and, simply, how a potato grows which is pretty fascinating. Oh yeah....they also grow them in space capsules because you can easily run out of food in these long trips in outer space.
All sorts of neat things in here will have you rushing out to the local grocery, or at least having you respect this food a lot more and realize its importance. (In some cases, potatoes have been a case of life-or-death, such as in the Great Famine in Ireland in the 1800s.)
