"In Memory Of..." wasn't a perfect episode but it sure was close to one. It had almost all the elements that make the best Unicorn episodes. Interaction between Wade, Grace and Natalie. Noah and Addie being an actual part of the plot. Deliah and Forrest kept to a minimum though there was still too much of them. In all fairness some of the over the top duo's parts were actually good. Michelle and Ben are consistently funny. CBS finally gave us a fun episode again. Not since Season one's "Turkeys And Traditions" has there been an episode this well balanced. Season one also had the hilarious "Widow's Group" with Betsy Brandt which is probably the funniest Unicorn episode period. Going by the early rating tabulations of this episode it looks like CBS has lost some of the show's viewers. Not surprised. This is the same Network that canceled "Life In Pieces" prematurely. The hideous looking mural of Jill's memory was hilarious as were the cast reactions minus Natalie's, who earlier in the episode felt left out not remembering some of her Mother's past when Wade and Grace were laughing at memories she couldn't recall. Despite the scary(?) look of "Jill" on the mural the other characters painted jogged Natalie's memory of her mom and the great times she had with her as a child. Similar to last season's Thanksgiving but just as touching. Enjoy this one since the previews of the next episode showed a long distance relationship between Wade and Shannon. Uggh! Bottom line CBS, when you include the children in the plot of an episode it works. During covid it was probably tricky. Sahai was absent in this one. Natalie, Grace, Noah and spaced out Addie really add to a plot. Noah is especially a great character! Natalie and Grace play believable teenage daughters with teenage problems. A must to make "The Unicorn" work.
