A serviceable Yoji Yamada film.

Yoji Yamada does a spin on a North by Northwest kind of breezy adventure movie, and the results are decent... but I don't think it's nearly one of his best efforts, and was mostly interesting because it stands out against many of his other films. It's one of those "everyone wants the macguffin" type of movies, but I wish it had found some more entertaining sequences to have unfold with such a set-up.

There's nothing about it that's offensively bad, and it generally moves along at an alright pace and contains consistent mild entertainment for 90 minutes.

I guess that made it a serviceable watch, and I'm always glad to find a film by Yamada I haven't yet seen, but it's probably only recommendable to those who consider themselves completionists of the director.
