This would have been one of the more enjoyable episodes of the series if it weren't for the distracting video editing/special effects. Instead of coaching actors on unnatural movement or simply changing the frame rate of the scenes with the antagonists, the decision was made to use a bounce/loop video effect which really distracts from the overall story. I understand they were probably on a budget for the show, but this wasn't the way to do it.

Better Than Most

This takes place in a kind of Amazon place where quotas will determine who will keep their jobs or get bonuses. Then a man is bitten by a rat and turns into a sort of zombie. Soon he bites others and so on and so on. Two women try their best to get out. It's suspenseful.

"Quota" works because... it's relatable. I wouldn't call it a "great" episode, but the idea of working at a modern-day fulfillment center, and the ruthlessness of the Corporation, is something most of us can relate to. As opposed to the previous "Imposter", which dealt with high-finance and a guy caught between two races, and whatever else the production staff was trying to do.
There's a couple of other things that work. I've worked in fulfillment centers, and yes, they're as creepy as shown here.
I could have lived without the weird camera vibrations when first Doyle and then the others are "infected" by the gas. And at its heart, "Quota" is a standard zombie/chemical-leak story. But hey, it doesn't try to be "woke" or enlightened, or tell any kind of message other than the basic one: corporations work people to death and beyond. In fact, I'd say the episode loses a point or two for not making the Corporation responsible for the toxic leak that causes the zombies. That would be a decent message if done right, without being preachy. But I suppose there was only so much writer Melody Cooper could do in 20 minutes.
Overall, "Quota" is the best episode of season 2 to date. It sticks to the two-sentence concept, it tells an effective 20-minute story, it gets in and out, and it almost comes up to a message/satire of a modern-day issue. Which for "Two Sentence", seems to be as much as you can ask.
But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. What do you think?
