My second review on watching it again!
ingra8812 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
No doubt, this is one of the the better episodes of the whole series so far! There are a couple better but this is definitely up there with my top three choices!

Big reveals, new characters, but the plot is really showing it's true colours, one of the best and 'thé' most important as opposed to the future Mandalorians in the Star Wars Universe!

Unite the clans of all Mandalorians, try and rebuild the lives, rebuild a whole civilisation!

Spoilers- Alert.....!!!!

Love the scene that reminds me of the'i'm Sparticas' where they stand with Bo-Katan on her quest!

Biggest Mandalorian get together is live action Star Wars history!

So Bo-Katan did Surrender to Moff Gideon to save her people! But Gideon betrayed her and continued the massacre of her people!

Fight a enemy from within the planet!

This part I now understand! The belief that Mandalor was uninhabitable spread the rumours people will stay away! Thus allow the remains of the empire to create a secret base within the ruins!

Soooo.. it was Moff Gideons hide out all a long...?

Such a great episode I'm loving it!

Also of note it's like a ancient Greek heroes story with armour and all on a ship sailing the glass lands!

But like Jason and the argonauts with a Mandalorian touch! As the hordes of Mandalorians make their way off the exploding sail barge and into the caves, they look just like Greek Hoplite soldiers!

Grogu is like the Witch Medea of the Crew of heroes!

Couldn't count how many mando's there were but it was a lot of them, when they fled the exploding sail barge!

When you see the imperial commandos in jet packs as they begin their attack on the mando's at the great forge, you can see they are truly not in control of their jet packs as they fight! Unlike the Mandalorians who are far superior in flight and combat!

When Bo-Katan battles Moff-Gideon for the Dark Saber, Bo-Katan is clearly more combat efficient as you can see she landed three decapitating blows to Gideon's neck, if it wasn't for his beskar armour he would be dead already!

All coming together
ossie8512 April 2023
It has been a sporadic seasom of Thr Mandalorian, and I was hoping this chapter would being the various story threads together, in this regard, it certainly did not disappoint in some regards, but other threads remain open. Katee Sackhoff's performance as Bo Katan was exceptional, showcasing her talents and delivering a character that was both fierce and vulnerable.

One of the highlights of the episode was the humorous moments with Grogu and his new fancy robot suit. Seeing him waddle around in it was an adorable sight and brought some light-heartedness to the episode. Additionally, the inspirational moments of Mandalore coming back were moving and gave me a sense of hope for them.

Amazing special effects and a great action scene at the end was exciting. Some truly sensational work from the film makers here.

Still haven't quite captured the magic moments of the first 2 seasons, and I'm hoping the finale brings it all together. I think I'm largely disappointed with the season, but I'm along for the ride.

This is what season 3 should have been!
and_mikkelsen12 April 2023
What I mean is that this episode at least comes closest to what I expected from this season! I feel like this is what the writters were intending when this season was announced! My problem is.. why did we waste time getting here?

This episode has its cool moments! I liked the beginning of the episode, but lacks the complete element of surprise since it came out after the announcements at Star Wars celebration and therefore we already know some of it!

The rest of the episode is mixed! I enjoyed the action, but I do feel this episode could have been even better if the elements of this episode were added much sooner! Explored the characters and backstories from this episode, in the previous episodes, instead of wasting our time with side quest and cameo fest's!

The important parts of the last 3 episodes could have been combined in one episode! It leaves the season with two moods: dragging or rushed!

The writting is also.. hit or miss!

This was not the worst episode, but it could have been better if there had been a natural build-up instead of suddenly rushing things!

If the last episode is as good as this one, season 3 will have been worth it
poseyfan12 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have not been the biggest fan of this season so far. Especially compared to the first 2 seasons. This episode was a massive step up, and I hope it's able to stick the landing next week.

However, this episode was a great lead up to the finale. We finally cut to the chase and get the whole point of this season: reuniting the Mandalorians and retaking Mandalore.

The scene with Moff Gideon and the Shadow Council was pretty sweet. There were some nice tie ins to other parts of Star Wars like Hux's dad. And of course, the set up for Thrawn's return and "Heir to the Empire". I'm pretty hyped about where this is going.

I hope next week delivers a great finale. Rick Famuyiwa is directing again so I have high hopes!

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Warning: Spoilers
The Spies was an outstanding episode with forward momentum and great development.

Moff Gideon is back and The Mandalorians would throw a wrench in the Empire's plans. So he gets reinforcements to go to Mandalore and there's the set up.

IG11's sacrifice is not wasted and the showrunners actually find a clever way to turn around our expectations, as the new IG12 will serve as sort of transport for Grogu.

Mission is clear from the get go, and it is finally time to start the real story. The factions encounter each other and a recon mission is in order so the protagonists can start the rebuild.

The pacing is just right as we just hang out with the protagonists as they are on some kind of boat. And going through the motions felt right in that one. It didn't feel rushed or too slow and we even had the chance to stay with Paz and Axe Woves. The conflict felt natural.

But that ending though. The Ambush occurs at the end and Moff has a lot of fighters going off against the Mandos. Bo Katan shows true character, as Din encouraged her, and proved her excellent leadership. But as the group tries to escape, Paz stays behind and fights with every fiber of his being. He succumbs to his enemies and dies in front of us.

So the blocks are starting to build. The Mandalore plot comes finally front and center in the picture. But it wasn't without some twists and turns. Excellent episode. I would say the best of Season 3. Shame the season is ending next week. Hopefully that would give the creative team time to refine their stories and writing for Season 4.

I feel if the writing is solid for the finale, it would even the scales a little bit for the quality of the season as a whole. There are still some issues, but Chapter 23 is a step in the right direction.

Seasons, worst episode, followed by the seasons best!
jesse-0719412 April 2023
Spoiler Free: The garbage that will forever be known as the "jack black episode" had me wondering if the show had jumped the proverbial shark. Everything that has been "teased" this season finally pays off. While I wish that Disney would release all of their episodes at once, apparently they know what they're doing. "Waiting for Wednesday" is some thing my 12 year old son, and I talk about all week. Instead of wasting a weekend of our lives, binge watching an entire season, the Mandalorian is the topic of conversation for a couple of months... This episode had it all. The Mandalorian's fighting in battle is what we all love to see. Grogu doing adorable Grogu things brings a smile to everyone's face. Furthering the character development of Bo Katan Kryze (who somehow became the main character of this season) has been a pleasure to watch. And there were more subtle Easter eggs tying the show's storyline to the Star Wars universe we've come to know. Throw in a monster and some heroic deaths...yah, this is why we love this show.

Another poor episode
gpglenpeters12 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show is so dead. This season has been terrible. The dialogue sounds worse than AI-generated speech, has no plot, no purpose and no reason to continue watching. What on Earth is going on? I think Dave Favreau is on his way out. The death of his character in this episode felt symbolic. Why is any of this happening? Why are the Mandalorians so stupid? Why did a character pointlessly sacrifice himself? In the reality of the show it made zero sense. He could've escaped. He chose not to. His death therefore isn't noble, it's dumb. How were Mandalorians surviving on the surface of a devastated planet? Not much of a purge if people survived is it? Everything is dull and boring, and makes no sense. It feels like its been written by disinterested children. What a waste of time for me, and what a waste of potential for the show. This penultimate episode sets up nothing for the finale. Why is Din taken to a briefing room? Is that supposed to sound intimidating? What had happened to make Vizla's death feel earned? Why was I supposed to feel anything when he pointlessly sacrificed himself? This is awful, terrible writing which has ruined any legacy this show was hoping to leave. Why has Grogu forgotten how to use his force-powers after being trained by Luke Skywalker? Why was he put in an android? Not to serve the plot, that's for sure. This is a show that is killing itself.

It's all Dave Filoni
darkneal12 April 2023
Many people have been questioning the strange dip in writing quality this third season of the Mandalorian compared to the first two seasons...but it's not that hard to work it out.

The only person on the entire Lucasfilm writing team that knows what they're doing, that KNOWS Starwars (even more so than hardcore fans) is Dave Filoni.

After taking a backseat on the writing for this season to concentrate on Ahsoka, Filoni finally writes an episode for Mando, taking over from the mess Favreau has been creating..and lo and behold, we're back to season 2 levels of mando greatness. It's a great, tight episode, full of action and excitement. It FEELS like Star Wars again.

With KK still in charge Star Wars will continue to be a mess, focusing on the wrong characters, on forceful identity politics...BUT we do have Filoni. All is not lost.

Bob Iger would do well to finally do the right thing. If you want Disney to start making money with the Star Wars brand once again, put Filoni in charge! But even that could be too little too late..,

This is the way!

Dank Ferrik! After what was arguably the weakest episode of the series and a season with a more relaxed pace, the show finds its way back to the formula that made it succeed in the first place: funny and cute baby yoda moments, great fight sequences, unexpected plot twists and big reveals. But on top of this all, the relationship between Mando and Grogu, which is after all the heart of the show, takes a new unexpected turn .Giancarlo Esposito shines once again! I watched this at Star Wars Celebration and the reaction was extremely positive. An episode almost everyone will like! Cannot wait to see the finale!

The episode where many plot threads meet
schodt12 April 2023
Brilliant episode, easily a 10/10. Many plot threads are connected in this one, and new ones are added as well. Can't believe how much happened during this episode's 52 min runtime.

Easily one of the best episodes of not the best of this season, and one of the top 5 episodes in the entire series.

It is also quite a relief to see that the core DNA of the show is intact after the past couple of episodes which had a somewhat slow pace, with the previous episode even feeling a bit off-brand at times.

Can't wait to see what Filoni and co. Has in store for the finale and the upcoming "Ahsoka".

10/10.

Diamond in the rough and one of the show's best
lovemichaeljordan12 April 2023
Finally! After a lackluster season, we get our first great episode. This is what we expected after the fantastic finale of season 2. Last week's episode was brutally bad and pointless; this is what this show should be like -- actual tension and good storytelling.

Last week's episode featured pointless side missions that brought nothing to the series. It was just an excuse for a few famous faces to have a cameo in Star Wars. This time we got good storytelling, great action, and real tension. Who cares about Mando chasing a droid around a city? No one. Who cares about real worldbuilding, character development, sacrifice, human connections, and high stakes? Everyone.

Give it just a bit of thought and this episode is BAD
Uzer_error40419 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There were a lot of things that just didn't make sense narratively in this episode.

Let's touch on the main one:

1) Paz Viszla's sacrifice. This man didn't even need to die. He single-handedly defeats an entire squadron of Baskar armored troopers... somehow. So what was keeping Bo-Katan and the others from backing him up? Oh, they were "trapped" you say. Well that leads to point 2.

2) Bo-Katan and the others being "trapped" by two doors when she could've sliced her and her teammates' way out of there at literally anytime she wanted using the Darksaber. Instead of cutting a hole in the opposite direction away from where Din and Paz were, it would have made way more sense for her to slice an opening on Paz Viszla's side so that she and her war party could have backed him up. The Praetorian Guard would have been overwhelmed no matter how well trained they were. The Mandalorians are a warrior people. Them running the opposite way when they were actually winning the fight just didn't make sense. The Mandos lost a few compared to the DOZENS the Empire were losing.

4) Moff Gideon and the baskar imperials weren't even a threat to the Mandalorians armed with blasters. The whole "oh, they're aiming for weak points and joints," is pretty moot, since Gideon is the sort of villain who would absolutely had his forces armed with baskar virboblades and spears, (which mandalorians consider blasphemous) and thus it wouldn't matter where the imperials landed a hit and thus it would have made them a threatening match to the Mandalorians.

5) The Mando warparty was still winning the fight against the imperials even with those imperials decked out in baskar, so why retreat after Din Djarrin was captured when they could have just went after him?

6) Din Djarrin being captured after being "cut off" from his team. He-llo, people! Bo-Katan has a literal lightsaber that could cut through the door and she could have done so a ANYTIME instead do stupidity shooting at it.

Like I said, the more you think about it, the more it makes less sense.

Favreau and Filoni can't save Star Wars
liche-117 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So contrived, so dumb, and so predictable.

I love Giancarlo Esposito, but his dialogue is worse than anything George Lucas has been criticized for.

He sings praises to the Empire, even though there is no known emperor.

Mandalorians are still surviving on the planet that Mandalorians couldn't survive on.

These survivors know exactly where The Great Forge is, but they don't know that there's an active imperial base present, literally steps away. Never noticed a ship coming or going, huh?

One Mandalorian distinguishes himself in the ensuing combat, and I suddenly realized they're going to kill this guy.

People think that Favreau and Filoni are capable of saving Star Wars. Sadly, I think that Star Wars is forever destined to be written by people who don't understand it. Lightning struck for episodes 4, 5, and 6 (and maybe for Rogue One). I no longer believe that we'll see the like ever again.

The return of the red guys
XweAponX13 April 2023
Well, you just have to watch it, and then rewatch The Last Jedi.

This is exactly where I was expecting the story to go, except that I wasn't expecting what happened here...

There is another question here, somebody is General Thrawn. Who is it? Maybe they are hiding in plain sight. We are not even sure who it is. It's just a name that was tossed out in season two. Somebody who apparently had access to a whole bunch of Beskar.

This part of the story appears to be a nice connection between the Return of the Jedi, the Mandalorian, the book of Boba Fett, and The Force Awakens.

We know what the state of the Galaxy is going to look like, eventually. We just don't know how it got that way.

So it is interesting to have these little pieces of story thrown at us. It makes it more personal, it gives us more detail. And tells us about aspects of Star Wars that we only ever saw glimpses of.

And it just shows us the diversity of that Galaxy, far away and long ago.

Still doesn't feel the same as season 1 or most of season 2
justinwest-1420815 April 2023
Bo Katan's character makes absolutely no sense. Not just in this episode but in the Clone Wars and Rebels, even though those two are a much better than this entire season. We meet her as a full supporter and an active member of a terrorist organization (the Death Watch) that wants to overthrow her own sister and eventually execute her. She then murders and destroys a village in season 5? I think. Then when Darth Maul becomes leader through a fair fight based on Mandalorian rule that Pre Vizla and herself had totally honored. When her sister dies she acts like she cares when she was the one who was a part of the threat. Then in rebels she kind of becomes a better person but she is still selfish and only cares for herself. Now in this episode she is saving her own people and is the "link between" the creed and the night owls. They should've made her the villain and then she backstabs the creed to get the lightsaber.

The VFX is great, and it better because it's using a lot of money. The dialogue is definitely better than most of this season but it's still kind of out of character.

There is more to say but I'll put that in my final review of season 3.

Writers redeemed themselfs after mast episode.
svanwelie-177-49684412 April 2023
As dissapointed I was in last episode, as thrilled I am now. This episode was beyond great. It gave true mandalorean vibes as seen in clone wars and rebels. The climax at the end gave me goosebumbs. Not only this show was great, but it is also an important link to the force awakens and the Ahsoka show. I wont give any spoilers, you have to see that for yourself. Now I am sad next week we will get the season's final. I hope it will be as good as the season endings of both 1 and 2, but now I have seen this episode I have my hopes high up and I can even forgive the writers for what they have done with last episode. This is the way!

TRUE MANDALORIAN EPISODE
rusgeorgecristian12 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is a true mandalorian episode. Amazing!

Moff Gideon is back and he has some secret plans with some imperials. And they talk about Thrawn. Just hearing his name gives me chills. They're waiting for him. It 's so cool seeing this side of the empire. Still fighting for their empire even they are "out of the battle".

Bo Katan and the mandalorians go to Mandalore to retake it and they meet with some other mandalorians. Then, they encounter Gideon' s fleet, who has a super cool mandalorian suit and some cool looking pretorian guards.

In the end( BIG SPOILERS)

Paz Vizsla dies. And I am quite sad because he had some character development this season.

Also, this episode has amazing dialog.

My favourite episode of the season and one of my favourite of the entire series. Probably in my top five episodes. 10/10.

Great visuals, horrible writing
Randofando12 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The special fx to start the episode were great- Mandalorian fleet ready to go. Mandalore itself looks good too, along with the surviving Mandalorians and their sail barge. Great designs- Doug Chiang is the man!

But now the story. Grogu is Jedi trained (in English), can make decisions to return to Din and can now operate a mech suit with yes and no buttons. But can't even say yes or no. Whatever I guess.

Mandalorians fly an attach ship over the surface and then drop 12 mandos down to stand in a circle to 'secure' the landing zone. Lol Ok? Then start a long patrol 'over there' to look for the forge. Probably should have landed over there. And no need to drop a crew when surveying from the air. Time wasting garbage.

Crownest mando sees monster. Captain not only keeps going but steers directly for it. Ship destroyed and some crew dead. Ahoy matey.

Captain takes them right to the forge because "THEY NEVER LEFT". Literally walked 30 seconds away from where they originally entered the forge into a SECRET imperial base. "Whaaaaaaaaa???" I'm not even touching what's wrong with all that.

Vizla dies. AFTER he killed ALL remaining troopers ALONE. Then dies when he's outmanned by 3 praetorians. All the Mandos could have swarmed the praetorians. Contrived plot nonsense all for a death that has no impact because his character is so poorly developed. Oh, and Bo can fully wield the dark saber, but didn't during battle. Might have helped. A bit.

The most disappointing thing about this show is how easy it would be to take the story from average to one of the best series on television. Fantastic visual concepts and a good overall plot ruined by a horrible screenplay and worse direction/ execution.

Nothing matters any more
dino-14114 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Finally we get some suspense and real stakes - Moff Gideon attempting to eradicate the Mandalorians is quite a statement.

The SFX were superb in this episode - besides the scenes on the "dune ship" wich looked like the studio shots of Errol Flynn pirate movies.

However.

In Kathleen Kennedy Star Wars NOTHING matters. No matter what is achieved, it is getting reversed in the next episode.

Why did they spend two seasons to get Grogu to Luke and capture Moff Gideon just to undo that moments later?

Not even talking about the Sequels that undid everything from the originals, including Han Solos entire arc.

Shoving Grogu into this season obviously has only one reason: He is the only "new" Star Wars character that actually sells merchandise.

That is very likely the reason why they can't make him talk - at FIFTY years of age!

Now, if Yoda was "the wisest of all Jedi" (although clearly outsmarted by Luke in ROJ) because he was "900 years old" but his species develops so slowly that they can't even speak or properly walk at fifty, this is just plain stupd. Even if you assume that they develop at 1/10th the speed of humans, Grogu should have the level of a 5 year old - and I have never met anyone at that age who could not utter even a word.

The New Republic is even more stupid than the republic of the prequels - indulged in pointless bureaucracy and unable to supervise former high profile imperial officers or extremely dangerous prisoners.

Luke is on some planet finding his inner center and the entire leadership of the rebellion that knows exactly how to defeat the empire, including its remnants, have become useless and where is Mon Mothma??

Bottom line: Kennedy Star Wars is deeply insulting.

Any excellent episode that advances the plot
bbalaskan17 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
My only complaint is one i've repeated all season, that some of this episode's events could have been included in in the prior episode and been more effective at making the filler episodes feel LESS filler.

Honestly if the 6 mins of shadow council had been the end of the previous episode, or even Kane's message to Gideon had been chunked to put that part in the prior episode

I undertand why that wasn't the case, Its a western, most of season 1 we had 20-30 mins of the episodes arch with would be done when the episode was over and wed have another 10-20mins.

I think many fans are spoiled by season 2, where the opposite was usually the truth.

Incredible Bounceback
trasenoliver12 April 2023
It takes something really special to get me to write a review if that means anything. After last week's mediocre episode, I'm sure people started to lose faith in the season, myself included. Now, I can't help but wonder if they intentionally put that bland filler episode before this one just to make this one even better. From the incredible set pieces, the (as always) phenomenal score, and real story progression, this I my favorite episode of the Mandalorian as a whole. The action, drama, and humor all land (almost) perfectly, and I honestly am looking forward to next weeks episode more than I possibly could've thought. Also, this was also a long episode, however it was well paced. All around one of the best pieces of cinema to come out of Disney's era of Star Wars.

Best Episode of season 3
rohanbiju12 April 2023
There's so much in this episode that compensates for its extremely lackluster season so far. Incredible directing, explosive action, huge monsters, and emotional sacrifices. There are some things that are touched upon that doesn't really build ir even get a reaction which was kind of weird. But the CGI and action hit so well and there were so many fun easter eggs and references that made this episode the best one so far. Hopefully this flows right into the final episode and gives a better conclusion to this lackluster season. Rick just does the best job in directing this season so far and you just know he's directing the episode when you see the action.

Best episode!
vzkbxptncv12 April 2023
The story, the action, the music! Oh my god the music! This episode has everything! If as a Star Wars fan this episode doesn't make your eyes tear up a little, nothing will! This episode is what Star Wars is all about. The story has come together very nicely, like everything has been leading up to it.

Visuals were great, action scenese were terrific, Mandalore was FANTASTIC! Sure, it does feel a little rushed, given the length of a signle episode, but because. It was such a great episode many people will watch it multiple times for sure!

Do yourself a favor and watch it, and listen to the music at the end. It will send shivers down your spine!!

Noteworthy and outstanding!
dhrishti-dc12 April 2023
A good rule of storytelling is: the larger the build-up, the greater the pay-off must be. This episode was the best and most noteworthy one of this season so far, and it brought back the initial thrust of the first two seasons. All the subplots from the beginning of this season (which seemed pointless at first glance) are finally making sense! The writers were able to fill the gaps in the plot. Episode 8 didn't fall short of the long-awaited expectations - mind-blowing twist with new character reveals, intense fight sequences. Main antagonist finally makes a comeback - better, stronger, more powerful and more determined. The foundations for next season's plot have possibly been laid. Here's to hoping that season finale next week will be as rewarding as this episode.
