A crushing nosedive in quality

Warning: Spoilers
I've enjoyed the show up to this point but I don't think I've ever seen an otherwise decent show crash and burn so horrendously before even reaching its climax.

This collapse is encapsulated in one scene. The scene where Seo-Hae's mother sacrifices herself is quite honestly the most embarrassingly stupid things I've ever seen. The acting was fine but everything else was an unparalleled disaster.

Let's break it down:

Fact 1: The door to the fallout shelter was stuck open.

Fact 2: The automatic closing mechanism wasn't working.

Fact 3: Seo-Hae's father couldn't budge the door an inch.

So there's no way to close the door, right? Well apparently Seo-Hae's mother is the Incredible Hulk because despite a stab wound to the gut that's implied to be quickly killing her, she steps outside and closes the door, sacrificing herself. Though not after some incredibly boring and drawn out goodbyes.

Honestly, if this had been a stage production it could be forgiven and some things could be left to the imagination but there's no excuse here. All they had to do was say the handle on the inside was broken so they couldn't close it all the way. That would still be idiotic but at least it would make some kind of sense.

How did this scene get made? How did no one realise the stupidity of it? A child could have told her to just push the door most of the way then slip. Or she could pull it if it's so inexplicably strong!

This alone doesn't ruin the show (though it goes a long way towards it), it's just the increasingly bad writing coming to a head. And based on the user ratings of the remaining episodes, it doesn't look like it gets much better.

What a shame. What a mess.
