Dear Old Dad Still Has It, But Need A Good Horse; Meier Says Goodbye
ccthemovieman-17 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Brandon Meier, a young jockey from Chicago area can't make it, goes back to Midwest/Southeast to give it a shot at Churchill Downs and Keeneland Racetrack in Kentucy. He's a nice kid......sorry to see him go.

Young Aussie rider Kala Stra is contemplating leaving, too. If you can't get mounts, there is no sense staying.

Meanwhile, one of the more famous jockeys, Alex Solis, is here at Santa Anita and riding a horse his kid trains. Yes, his son is a part owner/trainer and apparently a pretty good one. There is no "Hollywood ending," though, for father and son in the race. However, later in the later, Alex has a new great horse which could be a Derby winner.

Solis is a Panamanian and is reaching his mid 40s with only so many years left to ride. He has 4,500 career wins. He's never won the Kentucky Derby but finished second three times. His son is Alex II.
