A Decent Look By Television Standards

On November 13, 1974, police discovered six members of the DeFeo family: father, mother and four of their five children shot dead, at 112 Ocean Avenue in the quiet village of Amityville, New York. Ronald, the eldest son, was found guilty of the murders.

This short television episode has a good focus on the DeFeos, and it is interesting to see the Lutz family try to help Ronald DeFeo out through his defense attorney. Various angles are explored, including (but not limited to) the two primary theories: it was a haunted house, and it was a hoax. I would love to know more about the mysterious ghost boy photo.

This would have made a good special feature for "My Amityville Horror", as it seems to have some of the same interview subjects and it would be good to contrast this with Danny Lutz. The news reporter especially, as he remains a skeptic.

The Real Story: The Amityville Horror (2009)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Highly entertaining episode in "The Real Story" series takes a look at the film THE AMITYVILLE HORROR and tries to get the to the truth of what really happened. The documentary takes a look at the DeFeo family, the Lutz family hauntings and the aftermath of the event including the book and movie. I was really surprised to see how effective this documentary was and I will say it's perhaps the best thing ever connected to Amityville. There are some nice interviews scattered throughout including a man who was friends with the DeFeo family. There are also interviews with the reporter who originally covered the haunting and we also here from the now legendary Lorraine Warren who talks about the hell she felt inside the house. There are also skeptics who discuss why they feel the entire thing was fake and done so that the Lutz family could make some money. Not to mention the fact that there was never another haunting in the house after the Lutz family moved out. If you're interested in the subject then you'll certainly want to check this out.

Why?

The Lutz's were story was disproven and they were proven to be liars! Why anyone would believe those lying, disgusting old scumbag charlatains, the warrens defies belief! The warrens and their prevarications have been debunked many times. They have made their living from duping people with the outlandish claims. They are shameful people whose lies are criminal.
