Amazing how much emotion Samox brings to these games and players. Binged in an afternoon.

Been waiting for this documentary for years and it finally paid off. Excellent representation of the smash community and some of its biggest personalities. A shame there was some controversy over the original version but this new edit is still incredibly interesting to watch. Any fan of esports will love it.

An excellent look at one of esports' most passionate communities

While its predecessor, 'The Smash Brothers' provides a fantastic look into the history of Melee, Metagame is an even better look at the game's most influential era. It's got great interviews, gameplay segments, side stories and a dash of humor and camp, showcasing a vital period of growth for a community no one thought would survive.
Melee History

It's hard to describe how important this documentary is for the Smash community. This series is an amazing successor to the creators previous documentary: "The Smash Brothers" and I would recommend watching that one first if you aren't already familiar with the history of the Super Smash Bros. Melee competitive community. This documentary coming out during the COVID-19 pandemic helped boost the melee scene during a time where we didn't know how melee would hold up with out in-person events. This documentary not only preserves melee history, but it's release itself will be an important event that we look back on in the future.
Impressive follow-up that lives up to the hype

This is Samox's second major documentary about melee, and it continues the wonderful storylines from the first. Watching it really develops and highlights the storylines excellently, even better than the first doc did for it's players. On that, each player had excellent build up moments highlighting their journeys and struggles; and the recent add of episode 8 the Godslayer adds more context to Leffen's side and come up. All around an amazing documentary that provides a lens into an amazing scene that has a beautiful rich history.
Well done.
